I see an unsaved blind man walking towards a thousand foot cliff. I run up to him and frantically tell him about the love of Jesus, and how he can be saved right now merely by accepting the forgiveness of sin that has already been provided for him. The man is convicted and accepts Jesus as his Lord and Saviour.

As I walk away smug in the notion that all I did was present the Love of God to him, I wonder if true Love would have told him about the cliff too.

I really don't know why I keep responding to these type posts ...I'm just a glutton for punishment, I guess.

Asaph, maybe the intent of your post was honorable, I don't know, but it IS sanctimonious. It is also not indicative of the tone of many on this thread. There is little love displayed - harsh love or otherwise - and yet many continue to couch their hatred of the homosexual person in the 'I'm doing this for love' rhetoric. What a load of baloney!

If the truth be known, many Christians would have to be held back from pushing the man over the cliff. Was the man's blindness the sin he needed to repent of? After all, God certainly would not have 'made' someone blind, would he?

I grieve that you did not see my point. You will though, I am confidant of that. Be greatly blessed today though. If even just today. no worries.

Asaph, believe me, I DID see the point of your illustration. My equating the man's blindness to possible 'sin' was in regard to those who continually say that God doesn't 'make' people with 'defects' or 'differences'. I DID get your point but YOU and others on this forum - including me - ARE the blind man. Many don't seem to know it, however. The blind man is anyone else but us.

Is a child molestor born a child molestor, or does such a one lust for children out of the lust of the flesh in order to fulfill those desires of sexual immorality, and is it sinful of not?

Is a murderer born a murderer, or does one lust for the valueless lifestyle of murdering because of the sinful flesh?

You need to open your eyes to the truth of the Word of God and understand that believers and unbelievers sin because they walk in the flesh, and All sins and abominations can be ceased by becoming born again and walking in the Spirit so that one does not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. The homosexuals that I have known are against living their lives according to the Bible, and instead live their lives believing all sorts of garbage to cover up their sinful lifestyle. Why would they do that? Because they are walking in the flesh, and not in the Spirit, either because they have never submitted to the Holy Spirit of God, or they have quenched the Holy Spirit of God.

I do confess that the natural 'sexual urge' can and does create great difficulties in some people, Solo. But the desire itself is natural. God DID create this. I don't know that the desire to kill or steal is an inherent desire in people although a tendency toward violence, greed, and frustration can create problems of this nature if not kept in check.

I'm no expert in genetics, Solo, and I suspect neither are you. I AM aware of the complexities of the human being, however, but you make no allowances for this. Everything is black and white. You think that merely saying the name 'Jesus' automatically heals all ills. One of the biggest problems with this line of thought is that it gives you additional ammunition to fire at that person when he/she doesn't instantly become a born again 'Spirit-filled Solo'.

Of course genetics play a role in many forms of human behavior and your denying this does not make it so. Anyway, I'm getting weary of this debate as nothing positive can come out of it. I'll become the recipient of 'hell-fire' before too long if I haven't already.

Why would you attack those that believe in the Word of God more vehemently than you would attack the sin that God calls an abomination?

There is no genetic evidence that homosexuals are genetically put together any differently than heterosexuals. The homosexual lobby has tried to sell this book, but they haven't been able to establish it concretely. Perhaps you would have heard about it if they had. It would be on every television, newspaper, forum, etc.

When I see that you have matured to the point spiritually to understand the flesh and the spirit, and why we are exhorted to walk in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, then we can go deeper into this conversation. You evidently are not ready to see the dangers of the homosexual lifestyle to the chosen of God.

I do have to ask you this question before I finish. Do you actually believe that it is alright in God's eyes to live as a homosexual. Will the Holy Spirit convict such a one of his/her wrong lifestyle?

I think you will find that many Christians will vociferously try to defend certain sins that have gained wide acceptance.
You are correct. Yet again the consequences of the fallen state of man are being shown. In any event, both obesity and homosexuality should be looked at and not condoned. I must say, however; it should be noted that obesity is not always due to over indulgences of foodâ€â€as you may be aware for some individuals obesity is due to a glandular problems (of course this causation is indeed rare).

I think that at any rate both homosexuals and those who struggle with obesity should be loved and dealt with in an uplifting manor. It is my personal opinion that ‘the church’ (The body of Christ which includes all denominations that believe in the essential doctrine) is failing in its dealing with such sins as homosexuality. ‘The church,†should take after scripture and deal with sin in a loving manor but unfortunately it is for the most part mostly acting like a ‘judgment center.’ Love and building up should be the backdrop of a person who is correcting another. After all God alone has the right to judge.

I want to close by saying that even though Christians are not to judge that does not mean they should ignore, tolerate, or condone sin. A Christian *IS* to correct another of sin but such action must be done in accordance with scripture and scripture clearly instructs us to correct with Love.

********
John here:
Open sin of sex (any sex sin) is always wrong. Agreed! Telling the world about is by far the worse than if one is trying to overcome such stuff! Whatever? You know, out of the closet.

Now about the overweight Christian. Lets say that they are #300 and become Christians. Saved right? Romans 8:1 But you look much better being 6' #180. But are you not both now saved with no condemnation?? (at least, that is the Born Again starting point! Who is it that is now sinning, the one with the struggle, or you with the next overeating meal, lets say that their next several meals might be very much in moderation? (who is the sinner in Gods sight) -it is the end recording of what the record books find that is the real issue! Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

Now, go from here on, ok?? Are the overweight ones who now have a battle to try bringing their weight into subjection any different that you with the sin that so easily besets you, and that you are battling with?? And when is it sin for the obese one??? The next meal? Or are we saying that they need to become slim before they accept Christ & be as Romans 8:1 finds them?? And can you read the [mind] of anyone, including the obese, to know of perhaps the fight that is going on with this struggle???

Bottom line: Personally for me, (of whom neither I nor my wife are fat, but what is the measurement of obesity, huh?) Yet, I think that anyone who compares OPEN OUT OF THE CLOSET homosexuality with obesity has a REAL PROBLEM THEMSELVES :crying:! Such as their OPEN SIN with breaking one of the Godheads ten Covenant Commandments of sun worship for the Godheads 7th Day Sabbath. See James 2:8-12.
