How come I have threads that are closed?
Just because of their age?
Why do you keep them?
Why do you have over 6000 dead threads in the Lounge forum alone?
Why don't you delete them and allow us to move around better?
Is this forum dying?
Is the owner ever going to do something to fix our problems?
Has anyone ever talked to the owner, like on the telephone or something or is he/she/it a mystery to everyone?
Am I getting to personal?
To who?

It's true that you virtually never hear from Greg, but I have spoken to him on the phone. That was prior to me stepping aside from my role on the team a few years ago, but I assume others have since then. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect from the great and powerful Oz, but I was pleasantly surprised. He impressed me with his vision for the board. He wanted it to be mission-oriented, promoting donations that would offset the cost of the site but go much more toward various faith-based organizations. He cared deeply about the site and wanted its members to feel this sense of community together in causes that are much bigger than CFnet itself.

I'm saying all that in past tense, because it has been a few years since I was a part of those conversations. Don't mistake his lack of presence to be a lack of caring. I believe he wants this community to be of the people, driven by volunteers and members as a whole. He has a number of commitments, some of which demand that he's very involved.

I don't know what slows the board down, but I don't suspect it's caused by all of the threads that have been shoved back in line in the Lounge. Purely speculation on my part, but I keep coming back to one cause. Ralph. He's gotta play a role in the in jacking up the site somehow. Just need proof.

I assume that 6,000 is plucked out of nowhere.

If you have a question on a specific thread, please start a thread in the Talk With The Staff forum. That's the proper channel to deal with specific moderator actions.

We keep closed threads because they can provide a way of looking aback on the site and seeing what people said about a particular topic ages ago. It's not good to delete content from a site unless you have to.

It's worth noting that staff can see deleted posts/threads and an undelete them at any time.

Why do you ask if the forum is dying?

There are a few problems with the site. Some are very deep and require the owner to do something himself, and he's been absent for a few months. Other things I need a database specialist to come in. Also, I am a volunteer and work 2 jobs and study. So I can only do so much here myself.

Hey pardner, if you will leave needle work to the ladies you won't have no darn thread being closed 'cause ythey know how to sew and no stinkin' old soldier should ever try that any way.
