At it's simplist by obeying Jesus when he said, " If you LOVE me you will obey my commands."

What are Jesus's commands?

That we Love the Lord our God with All our mind, emotions and soul and that we love our neighbours as much as we love ourselves.

How do I do what the scriptures say do? How do we keep Jesus commands? How do we love the Lord God with all our mind, emotions and soul and that we love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves?

None of it is easy, and I think it really comes down to circumstance for those new in the faith as they learn and grow in the faith.

I think it's easy to say, "simply believe" but those who preach this message need to qualify it by adding, "it may not turn out the way you want, thought or expected".

For me, submitting to God means I need to trust Him, under any circumstances regardless of the outcome. It's not easy, and it's not always comfortable...and it doesn't always come with that warm fuzzy feeling. But what it does come with is an inner peace that strengthens you and causes you to be a light in a very dark world and Satan has now power over a child of God, less what God allows for His good purpose.

submit myself to God for me means say yes to God and side with God with my thinking and feelings - think of God as being for me and i choose to be with Him - iow i don't think of God and i being on opposite sides - i pledge my allegiance to God and God pledged to be my God/Redeemer/Healer/Protector/Provider/etc

resist the devil and he will flee from you means to me to say no to the devil and side against him on everything

For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor (Galatians 2:18).

In other words, if I use my will power, self effort, self ability, I enter into the "Law," and become a transgressor. So, we must stay in "Grace," that allows the Holy Spirit to accomplish all commands ask of us to do (Romans 8:2).

If the Believers Faith is placed exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., The Finished Work, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, the Believer will enter into the Lord's rest that is carried out by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:2, Hebrews 4:1). This is the only way that the Holy Spirit will deliver the Believer into the death, burial, and resurrection on Christ so that the life of Christ is manifested through the Believer by the power of the Holy Spirit, both to will, and to do of His good pleasure (Romans 6:3-5, Romans 8:2, 2 Cor. 4:11, Phil. 2:13). IT IS JESUS LIFE THAT BRINGS VICTORY...NOT OURS. Matthew 5:8, John 1:12, John 14:21, Romans 6:3-5, Galatians 2:20-21, 2 Corinthians 4:11

Let me repeat this because this is very important: The Believer must stay in His death, burial, and resurrection and are, therefore, victorious (It is Jesus Christ life that brings victory - not ours). That is the only way we are triumphant in Christ (II Cor. 2:14). And that is the only way He can work in us both to will (change our desires), and to do (give us the power of the Holy Spirit) (Phil. 2:13)

This is the only way we receive the life of Jesus Christ to manifest in our lives so that we receive all the benefits of this Resurrection life (Luke 9:23).

JESUS SAID, "YOU CAN DO NOTHING WITHOUT ME (John 15:5)! EVERYTHING THAT MAN DOES DIES. EVERYTHING THAT JESUS DOES IS BLESSED, AND LIVES, AND HAS LIFE (Psalm 1:3)!

If the Believer does not understand this, all scriptures become enticing words to the flesh, that will be attempted by the flesh to perform (Romans 8:2-3, 1 Cor. 2:4). The Believer now becomes a transgressor (Gal. 2:18). Under Grace, the Holy Spirit carries out the will of God in the Believer (Romans 8:2). Under the Law, the flesh (your own ability) carry's out the Law of God. Under Grace, the New Covenant, if Christ is a Law keeper, than I am a Law keeper because I am in Him (Romans 6:3-5, Gal. 2:20-21).

We submit to God by the Plan He has provided, which is the Cross (Romans 8:2). We resist the Devil by strictly looking to Christ, and what He has done for us at the Cross, where Satan was totally defeated (Colossians 2:14-15).

God has chosen to operate His work from the basis of faith. "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:2) is God's prescribed order of victory for the Believer over sin, the world, the flesh, and the Devil.

The Holy Spirit operates in a Christian by the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2). This Law requires the Christian to place and maintain their Faith exclusively in Christ and the Finished Work at Calvary's Cross where the victory was won (The Blood of Jesus). This Law delivers you into the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, which allows the life of Christ to manifest through you by the power of the Holy Spirit (this includes the gifts of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit in demonstration of the Spirit and of power). This is how you receive grace and favor from the Lord because you are not frustrating grace, but growing in grace by walking and being led by the Holy Spirit.

The Believer who doesn't understand this or has chosen a different way, is operating in the Law of Sin and Death (the works of the flesh - sin has dominion over them).

so what are you saying?

do you have the answer to your own question?

were you asking this question to find out what we do because you need help? - or to debate with people?

we are always here to help anyone - if what works for us does not work for you that is also fine - let us know if you need help or just want to debate

Brother,

I just feel that sanctification is so important, I had to teach about this subject.

How about we talk about addiction? How does one draw close to God while resistng the devil to free thenselves from their demons?

Our faith has to be lived out... We need spiritual courage so what we do changes our world.

Salvation is a wonderful gift that will last an eternity. But sometimes we just need to be saved here, now from the things that seek to destroy us.

amen - so many people struggle with addictions and when they fail to overcome they think God rejects them too

really God is our Healer/Redeemer/Deliverer for any situation we confront

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me…to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.” Isaiah 61:14

Most people do not think they are at war with Satan, but Satan is at war with everyone, especially Christians.

In Genesis 3:15, God says there will be enmity (war or hatred) between Satan and the woman, and between Satan’s followers and Christ, which includes believers, since they are in Christ. Satan also comes trying to steal, kill, and destroy from everyone (Jn. 10:10). As a result, most people are defeated and are his prisoners of war since they do not know how to have victory over sin and Satan.

The following are examples of the numbers per year in the United States of those who are defeated and are Satan’s prisoners of war in the following categories:
• 38 million who are in bondage to alcohol
• 22 million drug addicts.
• 1.3 million who attempt suicide, and 40,000 who take their own lives
• 28,000 viewers of Internet porn every second
• Those who sexually abuse one out of three girls and one out of five boys before they reach the age of 18
• Those who sexually, physically, or verbally abuse or neglect 1 million children annually
• Those who cause 4.7 million women to be victims of domestic violence annually
• 3 million addicted to gambling
• 33.8 million adults who smoke or chew tobacco and 440,000 who die annually as a result.
• 17 percent of children and 37 percent of adults who are obese

These are some pretty obvious examples, and some of them are Christians who are struggling to overcome sin. But there are many who are struggling and losing to less obvious sins such as fear, anger, depression, unforgiveness, and selfishness. When the Assyrians would capture prisoners of war, they would put a ring or hook through the lower lips of the defeated soldiers so they could lead them around. The Babylonians put a ring or hook through the noses of prisoners of war. After prisoners of war were shown off in the triumph of a victorious Roman general (see last month’s article), half of them were killed and the other half became slaves. All of this is similar to how Satan uses and abuses his prisoners of war.

The reason Christians have become prisoners of the war with Satan is because they are fighting the wrong war, and they are trying to fight Satan and sin the wrong way. Christians are not to fight against sin because the power of sin is greater than their greatest strength. God told Paul that the power of Christ could only help him when he realized how weak he himself was, and that he had to totally depend on Christ so God’s power could work in and through him (II Cor. 12:9).

In realizing their helplessness and understanding that they do not have to turn to hopelessness, Christians can say yes to the hope that is only available in Christ. Besides that, the power of sin was already broken on the Cross, so believers do not have to keep fighting that battle.

Therefore, their weapons are not carnal (II Cor. 10:4), or something they can produce themselves and use to accomplish their victory. Their battle is not against acts of sin, but the fight is to keep their faith in who Christ is and what He did on the Cross, so they stay in His death, burial, and resurrection and are, therefore, victorious. That is the only way they are triumphant in Christ (II Cor. 2:14). And that is the only way He can work in them both to will (change their desires), and to do (give them the power of the Holy Spirit) (Phil. 2:13), so they can overcome sin. This is the only way believers can yield themselves as God’s servants (slaves) of obedience instead of being slaves to sin unto death (Rom. 6:16).

A believer can know he is a prisoner of war if he is repeatedly committing sins, such as works of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21), or he is missing some of the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23).

No sin can attach itself to any born-again Believer if their Faith is placed exclusively in Christ and the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won.

Question for all? If sin can't attach itself to a born-again Believer whose Faith is placed exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, i.e., The Finished Work, then how is it that most Christian are in the snare of the Devil, taken captive by the Devil through bondage and sin? (2 Timothy 2:24-26)

That is why Paul tells us to have Bible Biased Brains in Romans 12 v1+2 and why we have intelligence.
We have to work it out for ourselves from what the bible says.
Please post book, chapter, and verse that says we must work it out ourselves.

Seeing that we are still housed in this fleshly body we will always have a battle between the flesh and the Spirit, even though this should not be. Flesh only wins when we let it as there is no excuse as a true child of God to get into the flesh, but yet we do. We can't even blame Satan for allowing self to get into the flesh as that is of our own choice, but yet glorifies Satan when we do get into the flesh for there is were he will snare us every time. The question is why do we even consider fighting against the flesh if we are truly walking in the Spirit.

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Romans 12 v1+2, test and aprove= understand the reasoning.
Phil2 v 12 the working out of salvation is two fold, that of obedience, but also of understanding.
1peter 3:15 being able to give a reason means you have worked out what Christianity is and are not repeating parot fashion.
2 tim 2:23+24 avoiding foolish arguments, you have to understand the issues to recognise these and able to understand if you are able to teach.
titus 3:9 avoid foolish contraversies, again you have to have worked out and understand the truth inorder to be able to recognise these.

Hebrews talks about growing up to the 'meat' of the gospel not drinking milk like newborn. again the implication is of a mental growth and ability to handle complex ideas not repeating something that is not understood.

Yes Jesus says we must be like Children in out trust, but he also said to be wise and the two do go together.
