How do we live a balanced life? We are to preach the Gospel, James1 :22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. I spent countless hours reading the word of God. Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Worship and Pray, Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made know unto God. We are not saved by our works but, faith without works is dead? How do you balance it all?

You balance it all through prayer. A-ask, S-seek, and K-knock.

Through prayer you ask God to help you and teach you how to make Him first. Ask God to help you and teach you to become a disciple (follower) of Jesus. Then all theses things will be added!

iLove, said it very well with few words.

I'd just add being listening for Him to speak to your heart. And keep up with your study of His Word.

and Welcome, we have great people here. Many of them are awesome prayer people, too.
Blessings

Balance comes from keeping Jesus at the center of our lives. This may not lead to what the unbelieving world defines as a "balanced" life but they are not our measuring stick.

It is overwhelming to think about doing all the bible says, or seems to ask of us.

One thing we can do however, it to be led by the Spirit in our lives.

As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.

If we are to major on any thing the bible says, this one thing would be it.

Learning to be set apart unto Him, and to hear His Voice, is the key.

Fruitfulness comes out of relationship, not purpose.

First is relationship with Him, then out of that, comes purpose.

In the beginning, God proclaimed His purpose for mankind, by the first words He spoke to Adam and Eve.

Go and find those words He spoke to us, and you will find that without relationship, there is no purpose.

The Balance of relationship and purpose is the balance you are looking for.

Maybe every Christian comes to this crossroads in their Christian life. It happened for me when I was about 2 or 3 years into the faith. I found the answer was walking in the fruit of the Spirit. That is how we 'have faith' in this life, and which satisfies the necessity for that faith to have works attached.

Instead of looking at life as a laundry list of legalistic, religious 'to do's' (go to church, pray, read your Bible, give, etc.) our singular goal as Christians is to love people the way God loves. That singular goal is what then gets fulfilled in all the various ways that it can, namely in the fruit of the Spirit. Then all our 'religious' activities (going to church, praying, etc.) becomes means to fulfill that ends, not the ends themselves, the way God wants it to be. The end being to love people through faith in Christ's forgiveness.

"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love" (Galatians 5:6 NIV)

When our faith finds expression in the fruit of the Spirit we are doing the works that faith demands without those works becoming a legalistic attempt to work our own salvation. Reread and meditate on the fruit of the Spirit and put your senses on alert for all the many opportunities that spring up daily, moment by moment, for us to respond to according to the fruit of the Spirit instead of the old way we're used to responding (rage, pride, hate, jealousy, etc...). God's promise to those who do that is to fill your soul up with the his manifest presence--the very thing we Christians long and strain for in all our 'religious' activities, but can't quite seem to lay a hold of, hoping our next formula of 'religious' activity will finally do that.

I need to hear this as much as perhaps you do today. A good discussion and review of this truth rarely fails to charge the spiritual batteries up and keep me going another day. The obedience of walking in the Spirit by walking in the fruit of the Spirit is the expression of faith that gives peace and assures us of the salvation we are waiting for.

Lady Terra,

I found this scripture

1 Peter 2:9
King James Version (KJV)

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

I am learning to be spirit lead and faithful to what I learn as I learn it. I really like Deborah's last post.

Psalm 61
King James Version (KJV)

61 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

God keeps us balanced in His continued works in us and through as as He will always give opportunity to witness Christ to others. Matthew 28:18-20 is our commission and Matthew 25 :34-40 are the continued works of Christ done through us. A humbled heart in all its humility towards others will always be a blessing to others and bring glory and honor to the name of Jesus.

I see your a new member also, I have been enjoying this forum. Each time I sign in I learn more and more. Take Care

I was introduced to this site months ago. I have been mostly just reading through the different post from time to time. I have been out of fellowship for many years. I believe I was in a cultish type of religion prior and I am thankful to not be in that religion any longer. I tried various churches but, I still struggle with," What Do I Believe?" I need to take time to study the word for myself. I am more of a listener now than someone who shares their religious views. I still allow God's word to drive most of my life's situations and reactions. I still love Christ and what he did for me. It is not so much that I am overwhelmed with the task of serving God. I am more about seeking TRUTH. I am more of a person who wants to apply what I know is true. What is the point of studying the word if it is not going to be applied? Some issues are pointless to me. That is me. I spent 8 years going to church sometimes 6 services a week and listening to countless preaching and teaching. So, I would be considered a Back slider. I walked away. I am here now to learn. I like your zeal. I remember what that is like. Hold on to it.

I can't make all the church events so, I found this site and jumped right in. Everyone has been very helpful. I heard at my church last time I attended that God quickens our spirit for a reason. You made it here. It sounds like the Spirit never left you. Welcome back Lady Terra.

"Seek Ye First The Kingdom Of God"

Many Christians worry about marriage, money, people, health, terrorism, and economic conditions. God says, "The antidote to worry is me being FIRST". Of all the problems we face, you name the category, to live in perpetual defeat over it, you must ask the question, "Have I addressed God FIRST"? God says, "I want to be FIRST". "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God". If that is missing, then you have just identified the cause of everything else that's wrong.

God says, "the reason why you are shook up and worried is 'cause I'm not FIRST, SO YOU GET TO TAKE CARE OF YOU'!

"The priority of the Kingdom" is imperative. Because if you miss what's first it doesn't matter what else you do. You've lost the foundation. "Seek Ye First" gives you light from God, so that you know which way to go, which way to turn, which way to move, which way to act, which way to think, which way to walk, which way to talk, which way to relate. You know what to do because the light is shining. You lose that perspective, no wonder you're running into things, tripping over things, falling over things, because that which is light is now dark and you can't see.

Yes, we acknowledge Him, yes we reference Him, but that's not sufficient for Him. He wants FIRST!

Consult His word before you get everybody else's opinion, or you talk to people who are going to give God's word before you get the general view.

Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. Colossians 1:18 NLT

Hebrews 13:5
Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 Let your [a]character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] [b]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor [c]give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [d][I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor [e]let [you] down ([f]relax My hold on you)! [[g]Assuredly not!]
