Yes he is my only saviour, but what do you mean others believe he was a Prophet. Jesus was a Prophet, he was many things. Son of Man, Son of God, Teacher, Prophet, Role Model.

I mean others believe He was just a prophet. Much like some just believe He was a good role model.

Role model: a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated.

No where does the bible call Jesus a role model?

"the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked."

"Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ."

"Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children"

"For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps."

"You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you"

Role model?

Priest, prophet and King.

Can you not recite the scriptures that show these three things that Jesus did to prove He was all three of these titles?

I thought that this was basic knowledge. Stuff people used to have to be able to recite to get church membership or Baptism. Oooookkkkeeeee.

Right :), but we only can do such when we regard Him as Savior. To try and follow Him as a role model, apart from Him being foremost our Savior, leads to works of the flesh.

We love God(and show the fruits of it) because He first loved us - by sending His Son for the

We imitate Him because He is our Lord, not because He is a role model. We imitate from a heart of thanksgiving and desire to be like the one who saved us - gave His life for us. Not because we think He is a good role model.

Jesus is God. That means He is everything. It is no doubt a thing we need to know.

However, first and foremost He is Messiah to us. Coming to Him any other way, first and foremost, is not viewing Him for how we should.

Peter believed He was God, Lord, and Master. When he spoke as though Jesus should not go to the cross Jesus was very blunt with him - even calling him satan.

He is still a role model. He set an example to follow and anyone who seeks the Kingdom follows by his example, not because any works can earn them entry through the pearly gates but because they seek the Kingdom of God.

Jesus also showed people how they should pray, he gave an example to follow. He is a role model. If you look up to Jesus and follow his example and teachings then he is a role model, its not trying to impress God its just being taught the right ways to do things as he is a teacher.

Your not understanding the question.

It used to be a very basic test of sorts to state and recite the scriptures where Jesus fulfilled these three roles of Priest, Prophet, and King. Where I may agree with what you stated...it doesn't fulfill the requirements of this basic test.

And I am thinking that this isn't basic stuff any longer.

Interesting. I guess I've never heard of the test. Is it a certain denominational thing?

I prefer a church that is not afraid of the truth, not like the many Pastors who have perfect opportunity to convict and witness yet give in, like on TV interviews with millions of people watching and asked questions on sin and they reply 'you know i dont judge anyone thats God's decision, God loves everyone for who they are, I can't judge peoples hearts only God knows and can do that'.

I'm with you on that, Brother. I seen such a situation just the other day, and his answer was just as you say, oh I don't judge people...lol.

But I do believe that he was wrong. I'm about positive that those of the church, are supposed to judge one another, within the house of the Lord. Isn't that right?

Judge within the church in a righteous judgement.

Its a false gospel many preach today like the charismatic prosperity. When Jesus spoke the truth to crowds he sometimes emptied stadiums he didn't always fill them.

As long as the peopes itchy ears get feed and the church gets its tithe there all happy.

Jesus said deny yourself, seek the Kingdom first, sin no more.

Church says God loves you just the way you are, he wants to to prosper and be great and live a really happy life.

Not really... it's basic knowledge stuff that many churches of various denominations used and tested with for various reasons. Methodists, Baptists, Lutheran and even Mennonites used to teach and know. Once upon a time Baptists used this as a test for church membership.
I can't remember if it was Presbyterians or Methodist that used it for deacons.

Either way it was a pretty basic test in it's day that used to be pretty common knowledge.
Some denominations had different "acceptable answers" even though there really are more than one acceptable answer for each of the three. (Hey, they got to fuss over something)

I had to look the other way when this guy first came on tv because I saw such evil. I sortof gave that "gift" up because it was so disturbing. But I still don't like to even look at this guy. I had noticed he softened his outer image though.

I didn't come to Christ out of conviction of sin. I called on Christ because I was unstable and lost in life and needed a good role model. I needed a solid foundation to put my faith and trust in.
I also did not come to Christ out of conviction of sin. I don't care for the assumption. I came to Christ because I found the answers to a sinful cruel world in the Word. The quote about being in the world but not of the world made absolute sense and provided me much relief and answers to why I did not fit in to the world I was witnessing.

It's impossible to become a member of Christ's body without receiving God's forgiveness for our sin. Making a decision to act like a Christian won't attach you to the body of Christ. Only being redeemed through the blood of Christ for the forgiveness of sin will do that.

This is what the conviction of sin in regard to salvation looks like:

"...the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14“I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 18:13-14 NASB)
