Bible Study How Do You Study The Bible?

I'm not talking about reading it, I'm talking about actually studying it and remember reading what you read. The reason that I'm asking this question is because right now I am reading the gospel of John just like my brother and pastor suggested. I'm just not sure whether or not it's going to come in handy later on if I need to remember a verse if the situation that I'm in deals with it. Do you understand what I'm saying?

I've always had to make notes. My bible has many aids such as "Israel in the wilderness" written at the beginning of a paragraph for instance.

In this day of computers, note keeping has become so easy where we have access to online bibles: I use the online bible e-SWORD by Rick Meyers, there is Bible Hub where each verse you want to get a better understanding of any scripture is shown in 27 different bibles at http://biblehub.com/romans/8-1.htm, and last might be the Strong's Concordance which gives you the Hebrew and Greek meanings of individual biblical words at http://www.eliyah.com/lexicon.html.

Once loaded your study will begin making more sense to you; at least I hope it does.

That's just it. I am not really the greatest when it comes to taking notes. I can try, but sometimes it's hard for me to know which stuff is important enough for me to copy down and what's not.

And I have a difficult time finding Message Bible copies online.

Well that's not a good attitude to have. I would think that you would want to have a better understanding of how to have a relationship with God and living your life the way He wants you to, but hey, it's your life.

I find that the best way to understand and remember is just to reread it over and over. Each time I read it I learn something new, and remember it a bit better. Rereading a book such as 1 John every day for a month really helps with retention and understanding. Audio Bibles are helpful for those who learn better by listening, and you can listen to them for hours while cleaning the house or some such.

The first time I read the entire Bible from cover to cover I was somewhat confused by the Old Testament. By the third reading I was starting to understand how all of the parts of the Bible fit together. Just read it over and over, and ask the Lord to teach you what He wants you to know. Understanding comes gradually over time, and you never stop learning.

Contain within te scriptures, principals God wants you to internalize. If you read them enough times, not only will you be able to quote the scriptures God impresses upon your eart. But why did they suggest John? I have the habit of asking those that are Lost to read and to reread four more times but I don't make as lost, just young in the Faith.

Amen! Once I received the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit I would resad books it was crystal clear ad eacg time I reread it, I learn something else and often from the same passage i thought I understood.
