When I make posts or a new thread, afterwards I always find something I want to edit or add.
So, how long is it until a post becomes un-editable?

I know some forums are a few days, while others don't have a time limit. But I have a feeling there is a time limit on these forums, so I'd like to know what it is and if it varies from reply posts vs new thread first posts.

    Thanks. :)

I was wondering about the same thing. Most forums I'm on there is no time limit that I've noticed, but on this one it seems to be a pretty short amount of time before we lose the option of correcting a mistake.

There used to be a time limit, but now the edit function is available 24/7.

If I want, I can go and edit the first post I made here last year.

    Welcome to the forums. :wave

Well I just looked at the last post I made which was about 2 hours ago and the edit function has already been taken away. I guess some of us have more equal permissions than others. :-(

Could it be as simple as an unclicked ' update permissions'?

Thank you for the replies. This is interesting since there are mixed answers.

I really want Gray's answer to be true. However, it does seem I no longer have the ability to edit my opening post on here. So, that's not even 24hrs? I guess Obadiah is probably right, it's two hours or less then?

I'm just curious, What is the reason for a time limit at all? Does it maybe have something to do with how the web site functions? Like something gets messed up if people change their posts after several days or something?

To be honest, time limits are not my friend. I make too many mistakes. T_T

I also like to make opening posts where all the content is in the opening post and the post can be "updated" as I get more content for it. I then leave the rest of the posts for comments. But I can't update or add to the opening post if it has a time limit.

However, since I am only a forum user, I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, so I'm not sure if unlimited edits would be a problem or not.

Someone makes a point, another replies with a rebuttal, the first edits the post and the rebuttal is no longer on target.
Short time limits may be ok in the debate section but otherwise... :shrug

    Got a powwow coming up.

    Reba,
Obadiah is set for 60 minutes, Gary is set "unlimited" but the usergroup "Registered" is set for 5 minutes.
CcGirl2468 is also set for 60 minutes.

Alrighty. Looks like ya'll found a latent bug caused by the move.
