I have no holes in my ears and no tattoos. I'm the odd ball, arrggh.

I did however purchase ear and nose hair scissors. :)

@Dave : So you never considered it, then...

I did in my early twenties, never knew what I wanted to get though. I never went through with it. And ear piercing just wasn't my thing. I don't like needles unless a doctor is next to me. FYI, you don't need the mention @ when you reply with my name. :thumbsup My brother on the other hand...

So your brother did go through with it, then...

(Like, one ear, or both? many guys that do it, do both these days.)

When he was younger in his twenties, he did only one ear. He also has multiple tattoos, and is an atheist. haha. weirdly enough. I see a lot of tv dudes do both.

Dave:

I see! But anyway, tattoos don't necessarily accompany atheism, because a lot of Christians have faith based tattoos, that they get as effective conversation-starters. (Keep praying for your brother, anyway.)

Is he a younger brother, maybe?

Some of us guys on here have worn earrings in the past, anyway.

(And reba has in the past said she rather likes the idea of a male earring...)

I agree with you about faith based tattoos. I will keep praying, ty. He's three years older, 35. I agree, a lot of guys are wearing them. I'm not sure, but have you ever heard of the soap opera 'General Hospital?' Have you ever heard of the famous Luke and Laura? Well..Luke wears an earring on left ear. I think it looks kinda swift.

Dave:

For you, 'swift' is a compliment, right? :)

I wondered at first whether this was a photo of your brother, with his earring, but I see it's of Luke... :)

(Yes, re. getting tattooed, a lot of Christian men and women do it specifically because they want to be identified with faith and want others to know it, too.)

Blessings.

farouk Yes, swift is a compliment. However, I never understood ear piercings with christians. What's their statement behind it?

Dave:

Well, as far as Christian women are concerned, many wouldn't feel dressed if they didn't insert their rings or studs through their earlobes when going out. (Even the Lord Himself is recorded as having given earrings to Zion in Ezekiel 16.12.)

Interestingly, in Psalm 40.6, where the King James has 'mine ears hast thou opened', spoken Messianically, the Hebrew has 'digged' = pierced, in reference to the bondservant who uses his offered liberty in willing service for his master (and which ties in with Philippians 2, and the perfect servant who was obedient unto death).

The custom is kind of subjective, I guess, but there is a lot of Biblical symbolism there, too.

Blessings.

farouk I wasn't aware of this. I have learned something new about our Lord Jesus. Ty for post.

Dave: YW. Of course, the doctrinal aspect of the Old and New Testament linkages is only very obliquely related to the subjective practice of ear piercing today, if it even exists at all. But the themes can be followed through instructively in the Scriptures, anyway, to profit. (There's even a hymn about it, that is sung sometimes.)

Blessings.

Dave:

Here it is:

My glorious Victor, Prince Divine,
Clasp these surrender'd hands in Thine;
At length my will is all Thine own,
Glad vassal of a Saviour's throne.

My Master, lead me to Thy door;
Pierce this now willing ear once more:
Thy bonds are freedom; let me stay
With Thee, to toil, endure, obey.

PS:

..gold studs and one diamond chip...
@Deborah13 : Yes, to complement a pair of classic gold or silver studs, a diamond chip hugging an extra pierced hole has kind of become a quite widely sought after female acquisition.

Having the diamond chip there also can become kind of classic in itself, really, can't it.

Blessings.
