I don't see as many male ear piercings as I used to. ...

PS: Ms Kathi: Anyway, I don't think male ear piercings is going to go away completely any time soon. It seemed to come in particularly when women started to get doubles and triples pierced into their lobes.

Like, with a teen son, who, if his mom had doubles and triples in her lobes, it was hard to argue that he should not even get one little stud or ring in one earlobe.

Nowadays young men who get ear piercings often do both lobes.

(Two cents'.)

Blessings.

I have one in my left ear, it has been there since 1972 or 71, and once in a while I still use it.

Lewis W : Well, years ago when men did it, often one ear would be pierced, but nowadays increasingly men that do it, do both. (When you did it, there weren't so many people that did the gauging/stretching that Kathi mentioned, above.)

Blessings.

Yeah that stretching is creepy but it is not new. It has been done in Africa for thousands of years.

What happens to the lobe?It will always have that huge hole in it?

Ms Kathi: It depends on the person.

Some people can go to 2g and not yet reach 'the point of no return'.

Some people - a bit hazardously - like to try to see how close to the point of no return they can get.

Some plugs look just like chunky earrings; unless you look at the back, you would never know they are actually plugs.

Blessings, f

@Lewis : There are even the passages in the Old Testament where freed bondservants who wanted to serve willingly had their earlobes pierced with an awl...

Lewis W : I guess we can say there are various, intermediate stages between the 'normal' 20g or 18g size that most initial ear piecings, and the really big ones.

Anyway, you've not regretted your piercing that you got 40-odd years ago, have you?

Blessings.
