Well, I wanted your own thoughts on what you wrote. I don't find fault in your view. It just sounded like there were two views expressed. I certain respect that someone feels people should dress up. I don't agree, but I appreciate your position.

I hope you didn't feel like I was being critical of you. :)
:) No worries.
I can rephrase to make it more clear if you like.
When I considered the OP question I thought of how I attire myself for church. It is as if I'm going to meet with someones family for the first time, and at the same time, considering my comfort threshold. I typically wear a nice longer hem dress. Or a tailored women's suit.
However, in consideration of the OP question as a whole, and being there are people who may be coming to church for the first time and have very little to consider as what they'd think were proper attire for church, I believe that as long as their clothes are clean and not risque that they can wear what they have.
We're told in God's word not judge on peoples outward appearances, but rather what is in their heart. I think in consideration of that if someone wears say jeans and a dress shirt to church, be they man or woman, and they're there sincere of heart to hear God's word because they feel called, that in no wise would God judge their attire. Because what is important is the soul. Not the wardrobe.

I need to look at some jaci faith photos .I have photos of her dressed up for easter,Christmas .the braided hair.

Whenever I goto to jaycee beach I think of jaci,it was her beach after all.

This topic has been discussed countless times, but I was in my morning devotionals, and the topic was brought up. Something was said that caused me to realize how differently I answer this question today than I did for decades until only a few years ago.

The reasoning I gave when the question was asked was a rhetorical question back. How would you dress if you were invited to meet the President? Doesn't your God deserve at least that much honor? I've come to the point where I wear jeans or shorts and a comfortable shirt. When I pose my rhetorical question to myself today, I believe I have a good response.

Mike, don't confuse worldy customs and norms with God's desire. The world invented the neck tie. The world says what appropriate dress is in any given situation. God wants your heart in the pews; not a suit and tie. Cloak yourself in humbleness and bring a heart of gratefulness.

Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

This isn't to say people shouldn't dress up if that is how they are Led or if it helps them get in a spiritual place to meet the Lord, but it should never be a requirement (stated or implied) of the church they attend.

So two questions:
1. How do you dress for worship?
2. How do you believe you should dress for worship?
If a man truly goes to worship the Lord and not out of habit or to socialize, then he goes dressed with a glad, thankful, humble and loving heart. That determines how you dress. Clean clothes that do not support the latest fads or clothes that do not reveal a lot of skin or logo's or advertisements. I go to praise the Lord, teach, share and pray for the needs of the people. It makes me feel whole inside, one with God. But before I matured and grew in grace I would think about what we would eat for dinner, or my mind would drift on other things during preaching. But being matured, My fellowship with the Lord is with every breath every day . I'am never apart from Him. And when I attend worship I go with Christ and come home with Him. I'am a stranger here, Really!

If people worship God sure they should give him there highest respect, but does what they wearing really matter. People can try impress God as much as they want but I think devotion means more.

If someone don't care about what they wear when they praise the Lord because praising the Lord is more important to them then thats just the way they roll.

Other people like to dress nice to show there respects to God and thats the way they roll.

Everyone to there own. There all there for the same reason, praise the Lord, sing some songs and have a good time.

Which wouldn't be so bad, but the tops had figures and writing on them.
I had two thoughts while reading this. Of course, attire at worship shouldn't be risqué or revealing, but I believe even this is predetermined by the culture and norms. I've been to Brazil a few times, and I've observed that Brazilians and mid-west Americans have two different notions of what risqué is. While we are not to conform to the world, I believe it's important to avoid making a spectacle of yourself by standing out widely. This can be a distraction to others.

Church is also no place to make a statement by how you look and what you wear. I don't like seeing writing on the parts of clothing that cover "lady parts". I don't like that in public, let alone in church. I think this is something parents aught to impress upon their children, especially their daughters. Teens aren't often sensible in this area, so it's incumbent on parents to be sensible for them.
I would dress to fit in which church i was attending...
Here again, by definition, communal worship is a community event. Whenever it's reasonably possible, I believe it's important to not make yourself stand out so that attention is especially paid to you. This is no place to make a statement by how you dress or the writing/logo/image on your clothing. It's not about you. It's about Him.

I wear what I'd wear in my living room, because I tend to feel like I'm at home when I'm at church. I don't dress to impress or to make a statement. I'd never do that in the privacy of my house, so why would I do that at church?

I do believe we agree.
I just want to add this:
IF I went to Brazil, which I probably never will but I do understand their culture..
I probably would wear modest clothing. I believe in blending in but not if it made me uncomfortable. We do have to be true to ourselves.

I do say that God will judge us by what we knew.
Our dark hearts are much worse in His sight than our clothing.
BUT... Two wrongs never made a right either! If we know better, we should impress on our children what we know, exactly as you've stated. They won't know what we don't tell them, and I believe it pleases God when we teach children properly,,,do our best, at least.

When I'd mention to the parents that I was going to speak about this with their children, some would tell me that at least their child goes to church. This showed insensitivity and the downgrading of morality, however not every parent is a believer.

(I'm speaking here of particular looking t-shirts or wording that is not very God-like, to say the least)

When I ride my motorcycle to Church I wear my leathers.
Gee. I wonder why???

I'd like to see a guy riding a bike in a dark blue suit, burgundy shirt and tie, shiney shoes, and maybe a hat like from the 50's. Think it could be done?
LOL
