i opened up my computer recently to put in some more ram and video card - and i was engulfed in dust!

Cleaning it out regularly is very important.

And so is cleaning your software. If find using del*.* useful! :hysterical

:type del*.* = :oops

My son regularly cleans our computers out and it's a good thing because it's unbelievable the amount of dust that can accumulate. It has to be a fire hazard!

I have a small air compressor, that builds about 100+ pounds. To this I add a small nozzle, it removes dust, loose parts, and defective fans --- well they are defective, after at least one wrongly directed blast!.

But it really cleans out your computer, did I mention it also adjusts loose boards. :)

Yeah you mean rip the MOBO of it's moorings. I use canned air.

No actually I have an indirect type of air nozzle, for the compressor. It keeps down strong damaging blasts of air, well except for one video board fan I blew apart. I liked hearing it go whizzzzzzz, and the fan blades finally whizzed across the room. :) But it had become sort of noisy anyway, so I just installed a new one.

Oh yeah, blowing fans beyond their recommended rpm can do this for sure, especially if you consider the internal temp near that fan can cause it's plastic fan blades to bet very brittle. It's one of those PC cleaning no-nos.

canned air...

Definitely not air.

but maybe the over heated micro-processor is the least of our worries.

really working on cleaning up my foul tongue lately also...

quite a shame actually,
since the Holy Spirit was merciful to cleanse me once before,
and then I let the civil divorce laws and
"Christian" liberality (and willful ignorance) amaze me.

Would appreciate yer prayers.
