Here in the US midwest it is cold and sunny. I am just fine and happily content with that.

Today I woke up to 6" of new snow on the ground. It was gone by the end of the day. It was 47 degrees at 6 pm 10 miles away at the airport, but snowing at my house on the hill. I couldn't believe it.

It can be 80 in Colorado Springs and 55 in Palmer Lake, which is just 13 miles north -- but 1200 feet higher.

It's a little cool this morning and sleet was providing some entertainment for a few minutes.

What is that "spring" thing you are talking about?
If memory serves me correctly, it is a beautiful time of year where you have more than white "stuff" on the ground, and can actually wear shorts and short sleeve tops. For now, all I have are pictures as a remembrance.

No pumpkins, but in the squash family we usually grow zucchini, yellow squash, and butternut squash. They sometimes use butternut squash in canned pumpkin. Any of the vines can really cover a large area. They can take up a lot of room. Do you have a garden anymore?
It's 43 degrees here currently, but is suppose to warm up to 61 degrees today.
Warm weather is wonderful. I can't wait for it to really get here.

Really I'm unable to tell the difference. Though I wouldn't consider Zucchinis as squashs or pumpkins, they seem more like cucumbers... But all of those kinds are awesome plants. They have mighty leaves and their growth is unstoppable. The only force in the world than can stop a squash/ pumpkin plant's growth is autumn. No unfortunately I don't have a garden any more. I used to have one a few years ago. I shared it with a bunch of fellow university students. Though they were more interested in growing some, uhm, "special" herbs of the illegal kind rather than vegetables. In the end we couldn't afford the garden for another year, so we sold it. Right now I wouldn't have much time for gardening anyway. But when I'm old and retired I'll pick up that hobby again.
Yeah that would be great. Oh well, it's not really the cold weather. It's the lack of sunshine that's draining me.

They have a number of types of veggies they say are in the squash family. We tried one called Lakota squash two years ago. Someone from work gave me some seeds. Spaghetti squash is cool. Have you ever tried that?
Ah yes, I have known of some who raise that "special herb". I have heard it grows wild in this area. I like having a garden to have the fresh veggies without all the chemicals on them. Plus the advantage of canning them. Last year we grew and canned jalapeno's. Yumm..they are excellent.
Yes, the sun does seem to energize a person. I always feel better when the sun is shining.

totopicThe weather tomorrow is suppose to be 72 degrees with the sun peeking through clouds part of the time. Looking forward to being able to spend some time outside and soak up some partial sun.

Currently the temp is 68 degrees, but feels colder to me. Looks like might have some rain next week. I know the wheat could use the rain, it would be better not to have the drought continue this year, as it has the last two years.
