It's starting it's turn northward but it's slow moving more westerly. I don't think the eye will hit the mainland.

which is good and bad. it can mean it will not lose strength ,but that the winds wont be as bad depending on how far away it is from the shoreline. mathhew was twenty miles away and the Bahamas ate that wind, this time florida will eat that wind depending on far west it is.

live video which isn't working. man did he have the tag staff in this briefing room? in some ways I miss the guard. I know where I would be now , probably waiting for the call at the armory , or sent to wait where they think it will hit. we took two days to report for dennis.

Definitely stuck here. But I feel a little better. My mom and brother kept calling me stupid and paranoid or trying to make me feel bad for not having more faith, but I was able to talk to other people and they think it'll be fine.
We have a second floor if we do get any flooding. Hopefully none of the 1,000 pine trees in the yard fall on us.
It might not be bad at all, especially if it keeps moving west.

I have a sport car club friend who is a Michigan utility lineman. He quit his job this week cause he's tired of Michigan.
He was hired by a contractor and drove a huge line truck all the way to Florida, they are camped out just north of Miami where they will ride the storm out in a staging area set up by FPL. He says he will be there 20 to 40 days and then will find work somewhere - being a long-time lineman, finding a job is not a problem, deciding which job to take is the challenge.

I just can't imagine riding the storm out like that, but he said they were convinced getting INTO the area after would be a worse mess than just going in ahead of the storm.

I will trust his judgement, but his wife is not comfortable, back in Michigan.
