Hello Michael74
I am no mathematician, so you'll find me lacking.
I am assuming ^ means (x) or multiplication. x^2 is 2x.
Unless you originally meant x^2 to mean x times x = x squared.
I think in any case, if x = 1, it does not matter.
Though I am not a mathematician, I do understand how it is a numerical language (say in physics) to explain things were alphabetical language is found lacking. Much like faith is used to grasp a knowing of the truth were logical knowledge is found lacking.
Unfortunately, as little I know about mathematics, is about as little I know about faith.
A sine wave moves from -1 to +1 on a Cartesian graph. 1 + sin(x) moves from 0 to 2 on the graph. Dividing the whole thing by a positive number changes the height of the sine wave. Dividing it by a negative number moves the sine wave below the x axis.
