matt1917 has it ever occurred to you that YOU not God is the problem?
You sound like a whining, unbelieving, judgemental person who blames everything on some fairy tale you have created within your own mind!
You have Locked God out of your heart and replaced Him with the fairy tale you have created!
Wake UP before its too late!

Yet he left me confused. What is thoroughly disgusting about it is I was just praying for the grace to do his will. I want nothing more than the understanding necessary to do God's will, and he won't even grant that, it's sickening!

Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
and what doth the Lord require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with thy God?

There you have it my friend. That is the will of the Lord for you. Do to justly. To love mercy. And to walk humbly with the Lord? To do these things, you do not need the Bible. The Bible can not teach you how to love mercy, only listening for the Spirit of Christ who lives inside of us and by walking in Faith can anyone learn to do or love mercy. The Bible on the other hand...., well, lets just say, it is misused to glorify evil instead of good.

Hi Matt, I have a question for you as well. First, let me say I just said a prayer for you for God to reveal His presence to you through the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you, my brother. The question is this; Do you hear thoughts in your head that seem to have a conversation with "you"? If so,if you are on a relentless freight train of thought stimulus, then I suggest this - as it helped me. Stop your thoughts by slowing them down until they actually stand static in your mind as you view them and watch them dissolve and melt away. Capture a single thought sentence... for instance, "I wish I wouldn't have these thoughts anymore." Now, imagine (you must visualize) them (the individual words) circling around a central point in your brain... much like the planets orbit the sun. Make each world in your thought a planet. Watch them orbit around your mind. Now, slow them down a bit. Slow them more and more until you can see each word in slow motion - until they are stopped completely, just hanging in thin air and you are observing them there, hanging lifelessly. Make them melt away into nothingness. What you will have left is a funny feeling of yourself, the Deeper Self, where the Holy Spirit resides deep within you and usually can't be heard (as He knocks) because of the mental noise going on inside that outer Self of yours, the one that is trying to bolster his identity in the world - the World where Satan wants you to get deeply within and invested it... to the point of forgetting who your true source is. I know it sounds incredulous, but please try it - it is where I found the verse, Be still and know that I am God exists. Stillness is required. still your thoughts to nothingness so as to witness what is deeper still. Lastly, it helped me to think of Helen Keller. I thought, once, about her blindness and deafness. It lead me to reason that if two of her senses were not connected to this world, what would happen if her sense of taste, and smell, and even touch were not functional. It was an amazing thought to me. The first thought I had was, "would she even be alive?" Of course she would! What would remain is the essence of the God life in her... the observer without the observable. That is where you will find peace and healing. That is where Spirit resides. He is seeking you. Go there. Ask.

God Bless you. Jesus is Lord (say it out loud often)

You guess that you'll just go to hell? And all you have to do is to believe it, just receive it into your heart as fact. Then praise God and proclaim it!

You're stuck in this natural Realm for now, but understand that faith is the (spiritual) substance, of things hoped for (salvation&life, to meet & know Jesus.) ...the evidence of things unseen. Don't you get it? What you say, and think...is what becomes, for you.

And you seem to be having trouble with negativity about God. Yes, it's a give and take relationship. They all are, even with mankind!

Try praising Him, and thanking Him, and trusting Him. You just can't go around putting the Word down in public and expect Him to come do miracles for you. That book is a masterpiece and it's all true.

He's helped me a lot. sent an angel to my garage sale and bought everything on one table for 2400 so i could pay my rent. Here's how it went;
How much do you need?
??
How much do you need?
???!
How about 1900?
?¿¿?
How about 2400?...
Sure.

There's a brother on this board who some guys tried to kill by poisoning him with bleach. Put it in his drink. He's still alive today. Praising God.

A positive relationship with God can't begin on a negative note. You can't demand miracles from Him, He's not a vending machine.
He responds well to love praise & worship though. :)

I have Matt on the Phone, and I hope He stays with me. We made some progress. God bless Edward. You have to call me about that Angel, I would love to hear about that. (312) 834-4896

So who decides what part of the Old Testament is for us to follow and which part isn't?? God often commanded the opposite of what he formerly said. Like he said "Thou shall not make of the a graven image" and then commanded the Israelites to make a bronze serpent and healed everyone who looked at it.

The brazen serpent was a prophetic shadow of things to come. (It did seem like a weird story...and no explanation in the ot)...but with continued effort of reading the scriptures...(!).. Jesus Himself explained it in the NT. That, even so must the Son of man be lifted up (and all who look to Jesus will be saved and healed).

You see, the OT is the NT concealed, and the NT is the OT revealed...but you stopped reading, so didn't know that.

Do yourself a favor Matt, go read the story of the brazen serpent again. Why did God send serpents into their camps to bite them?
Then re-read your posts in this thread and connect the dots.
God can get angry when people bad mouth Him.

(I'm not tryin to be mean, but warn you)

I think maybe the OP hates his --idea-- of God, not God Himself. I think that's true of a lot of people.

Col_1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

We should all be increasing in the Knowledge of God. How He thinks, what He will do in a situation, How spiritual things operate, How His Word operates.

People often think God is something they decide He is, not what scripture says about Him. This is why people blame Him for all kinds of evils.

There is a doctrine of devils out there that says, "If God wanted to, God could have Helped"

Jas_4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

So according the the doctrine of devils and ignorant people of scripture, God commits sin by not healing, not saving, not doing what they prayed for, and "Allowing" evil to come to them. God is God, and God could have stopped it if God wanted to.

Jesus said, these things are only possible for them that believe. It's not according to what God can do, What God wants to do, not how bad the need. It's according to what you believe.

People spend a whole lot of time asking God over and over for things He already said is theirs by the Word He sent to us on EArth. They ought to spend time meditating in the scriptures and believing what God already said, and stop begging him by unbelief.

I don't think it's to much for the one that made the earth to expect people to believe what He said. It's really not that complicated.

If He said, I will supply your need, then no need bothering Him about it, just thank Him that He said that.
If He said He forgives all my iniquities and Heals all my diseases, then no need to beg for healing, I just thank Him He said that.
If He said no weapon formed against me can prosper, and Nothing can by any means hurt me, I don't have fear of anything and thank Him that He said that.

Nothing can change What God said, it's eternal, it's always there, it will never pass away.
Only man can choose to ignore God and not have what He already declared.

Great post Brother.
Mike.

“And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:12–14)

Peace for whom? There is a somber note sounded in the angels’ praise. Peace among men on whom his favor rests. Peace among men with whom he is pleased. Without faith it is impossible to please God. So Christmas does not bring peace to all.

“This is the judgment,” Jesus said, “that the light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds are evil.” Or as the aged Simeon said when he saw the child Jesus, “Behold this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel and for a sign that is spoken against . . . that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” O, how many there are who look out on a bleak and chilly Christmas day and see no more than that.

“He came to his own and his own received him not, but to as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, to as many as believed on his name.” It was only to his disciples that Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

The people who enjoy the peace of God that surpasses all understanding are those who in everything by prayer and supplication let their requests be made known to God.

The key that unlocks the treasure chest of God’s peace is faith in the promises of God. So Paul prays, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.” And when we do trust the promises of God and have joy and peace and love, then God is glorified.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men with whom he is pleased — men who would believe.

Problem is, it's kind of hard to believe those Scriptures when such terrible things are constantly happening to believers. The early Christians were used as torches at the olympic games, fed to lions, worked to death, raped, mutilated, molten lead poured down their throats etc., yet the word promises them that nothing formed against them shall prosper. The word promises them that "I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies."The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. "they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone." 2Timothy 4:18The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom.

How did those verses really work out for those early Christians persecuted by Pagan Rome, and how are those verses working out for the Christians being murdered by ISIS or Christian women sold as slaves and raped by enormous amounts of men in the muslim world? I want to believe those Scriptures, but how can God fault people for disbelief, when such terrible atrocities are happening to believers? yet his word promises protection and deliverance from every evil!

The Problem is you Matt. I have been protected just fine. All the disciples lived out their days, and completed all the Work the Lord had for them, full of years.

You talk about ISIS murdering Christians? You don't know what those Christians believe, you don't know a thing about it except that they were labeled Christians.

I have more testimonies of God's amazing will and power to heal and deliver than all the things you misunderstand. God treated you good, He put you in contact with someone that understands these things. I suggest you start being grateful and give me a call so we can continue on your Journey to serve God and ensure your future with a bright hope. I told you, put the Word First and things start to change.

If you don't do what your told, or follow the Lord's direction, then what fault do you have against God?

Now call me.
Mike.

Matt, you are not the problem but neither is God. God just works in mysterious ways sometimes. I can say I feel God was there for me when I had a failed suicide attempt and that's the main reason I believe. I'm sorry God wasn't there for you with the whole train thing. I can't tell you why God wasn't there for you, but I can tell you there have been other times he was not there for me that were equally as major as my suicide attempt. Hang in there.

If God ever left you one time gerbilgirl, Satan would have killed you. When He does not look like He is there it's normally because we want something changed to make our flesh feel better and not focused on HIm and His Kingdom. Jesus said seek first the Kingdom of God and Our right standing with him. Matt 6

Most the time, God's hands are tied because we are not doing what we are suppose to be doing. We don't put His Word first place in our life, we can't expect things to go hunky dory. I have seen God do amazing things in my life. He has used me to heal the sick, and do all kinds of awesome stuff.

I don't let my mind become a dumping ground for devils. No doubt, it's work at times, but I know where negative thoughts lead. They lead to self pity, and defeat. I shut all things under the curse down immediately. I will have no part of the curse Jesus freed me from.

For example, I was eating some beans last night and my grandma said, "That can give you indigestion" I told her I don't receive indigestion, it does not belong to me, and I would appreciate you speaking faith or not speak at all.

We are not suppose to talk to angels, but angels also play a part in our safety and protection.

Psa 103:20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

God's Angels only move according to God's Word. They won't budge with anything else. If I say nothing ever works out, I might as well die, then they have to just stand around and watch. They can't activate on that. If I say, no weapon formed against me shall prosper and with Long life my God will satisfy me, then they move and respond. They won't violate God's Word, and one angel and destory an army. I want them working for me, so I keep the Word in my mouth and don't speak garbage.

It takes time to replace all the junk in us with God's word, but God's word will remove the layers of garbage that have accumulated through the years in us. It's work, it's meditation on the scripture day and night and it's worth every bit of it.

Now if I could be believers to stop wanting prayer all the time (Spiritually Lazy folk) and motivate them to get in the Word, they have the victory. Prayer is good, but it won't magically replace what God's Word is designed to do. The Word causes faith, and feeds our spirit man to be strong, and the Devil has no weapon against a strong spirit and God's Word.

I did nothing wrong when I was abused by a priest as an innocent 4 year old. God just wasn't there. If you have anything else to say PM me because this is Matt's thread and not mine.

Yes to answer your question, I hear thoughts in my head that seem to be conversation. I also have visions...I just don't know what is from God and what is just my imagination or some spirit not of God. Many people keep saying "Does it add up with God's word"....well, technically I could stone someone to death for adultery and that adds up with God's word.

No where in God's word does it say that everything we believe about Theology must be contained in God's word! If we followed that philosophy we wouldn't have a Bible, because nowhere in God's Word does it say which of the documents belong in a single volume and Christians debated for centuries about what the correct Canon of Scripture was before a decision was ever made, and that decision was not backed up by Scripture, which means the Bible isn't the final and only authority for settling spiritual matters.

I seemed to experience grace today from God. Thank you Jesus! :)

Just because a book says something doesn't mean God is telling me to do it or that I have the correct interpretation. God needs to give me discernment or the book is useless. I need God, not a book. Besides, the God I see in much of that book is cruel, legalistic, irrational, unjust, and simply not the God I understand God to be.

You know Matt, you're doing the same thing that I used to do and the same thing that many people do. Wanting to know God's will and not liking God because of what certain portions of the Bible say about Him so pretty much reject the Bible and not reading it enough or at all because of that.
I want God, and not a book.

Firstly, knowing God's will is easy enough, it's all throughout the Bible. God's will is to pay it forward. To walk in love, like Jesus did. Love God first and foremost and love our neighbors as yourself.

Jesus loves us so much that He layed down His life for us, that we could live.. while we were still sinners even.

We're to have the mind of Christ and emulate Him (be just like Him). Jesus only did what He saw the Father do, and could do nothing of Himself. He healed, loved and died for the very people that persecuted Him. So since He did that for us, we are to do the same, to, pay it forward so to speak. Be a blessing to everyone you meet. Especially your worst enemy. As He did, so we are. That's God's will.

As far as God being cruel, unjust, irrational and so forth, you just don't understand the big picture because you didn't continue reading to get the rest of the story. Consider this;

Morality question. Ok so you're out for a walk, and as you come around the corner you see a big guy beating up a small guy. He already won the fight, the small guy is covered in blood and senseless. You can tell that the smaller guy is at the point of collapsing yet the big guy continues to beat him...what would you do?

Being good to people is one part of God's will that is clear. Much of his will is not.

What to do for a living, what to major in, how to get healing, how to receive the gifts of the spirit, how to discern God's voice isn't clear. It is a world full of sick spiritually blind, deaf, and confused people, and it isn't going to improve unless God starts healing and enlightening people.

Regarding your question, what to do when someone is getting beaten up, by the grace of God I believe I would intervene. Or, I could be like God and just watch. Yeah, that's right, God sees children getting raped, beaten, tortured, and murdered every day and he just watches and refuses to intervene.

The child is sanctified by the believing parent Matt. God does not violate His own word. By that we have great help. We went over this already. If scripture says something, then that is how it is. God defined spiritual laws in His Word. God is not defined by what we make up and want to think.
