For some reason... and I'm not sure why... many seem to have a difficult time understanding who ISRAEL is...

Israel is JACOB and his twelve sons... I'm sure we'll be speaking of the twelve sons which are the twelve tribes listed for us in the holy scriptures...

Associated with this is perhaps the twelve Apostles of the Lamb..

Why Twelve...?

Because in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of His glory.. His (resurrected) Apostles shall also sit in twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel..

Something else to consider is the slight difference in tribes as compared in Genesis and Revelation 7.

There is so much in the scriptures which teach us about Israel (JACOB)... so let's search the scriptures and see what the word of God has to say concerning Jacob, who wrestled with the man all night and then in the morning of that Day, the sun rose upon him and his name was changed... to..

I S R A E L . . . in the R E G E N E R A T I O N . . .

Rather than go to the past first... I'm going to reference the future from Matthew's gospel... specifically the 19th chapter and the 25th chapter..

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

This is certainly a wonderous portion of scripture which speaks of the things which shall be hereafter, in that Day, the Day of the Lord, the Day of Jesus Christ...

Now of course there is no Christian in their right mind who is going to suggest that this is past or present... it's clearly future...

How do we know that for certain...?

Because Matthew 25 also speaks of the Lord sitting upon the throne of His glory... and there it tells us precisely WHEN the Lord shall sit on His throne..

And of course that is when HE COMES in His glory... at the revelation of Jesus Christ.. whom the heaven must receive until the restitution of all things..

Now of course many know and understand that Matthew 25 also speaks of the Kingdom of God... and did you know that Luke 22 also affirms the exact same thing which Matthew 19 does... how that His Apostles shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel...?

In His Kingdom...?

Read it for yourself...

And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: for I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

...

Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

We know WHEN the Apostles are going to sit upon twelve thrones according to Matthew 19... and that is in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits upon the throne of His glory..

Amazing stuff imo, and simple as can be as it is described in the word of God, which is for ever settled in heaven.

Is this not what the scriptures teach ?

Please don't take my word for anything... please read it for yourself.

Jacob / Israel... ONE FAMILY, ONE NATION with TWELVE Apostles.. (In fact, it's the only nation on earth which is not considered GENTILE...

Church of God... Jews and Gentiles FROM ALL NATIONS with ONE Apostle... The Apostle to the Gentiles..

Isreal..........The physical Jews I think there is a lot of people who believe ALL ISREAL referes to a Spirital Isreal. Romans 9:8 does say, "They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. God's precious promise to his people that he will save a people for himself. Also Romans 11:7 says " What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh, but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were Blinded" Salvation is come to the gentiles as well as Israel. The Jews of the time when Jesus walked the earth did not like this.

I wouldn't call it Spiritual Israel simply because the word of God doesn't call it spiritual Israel...

But it's true that not all Israel is Israel...

It's not much different than the church of God today, there are many who claim to be Christians, although are all actually IN CHRIST ?

Same with Israel... there were Pharisees who were certainly of Jacob's lineage, although that doesn't mean that they are the Israel of God... which are those who are justified by faith.

And absolutely the gospel has been going out to the GENTILES ever since it was rejected by Israel... this is why the LORD raised up the Apostle to the GENTILES... while Israel is cut off and remains blinded in part.

It's an important mystery which the Apostle to the Gentiles does not want you to be IGNORANT of lest you become wise in your own conceits..

How that they are blinded in part until the fulness of the GENTILES be come in.

Now, let's go to the book of Genesis and see Jacob's twelve sons which are the twelve tribes of Israel...

Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: the sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun: the sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin: And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali: and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan-aram.

Notice the slight difference in Revelation 7 with respect to the things which shall be hereafter...

And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

I am the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and JACOB...

One of the most amazing verses (above) in the scriptures imo... for it speaks of all time.. from the Father of faith, to the promised Son given, and finally to JACOB... the one who wrestled with the man until the breaking of the day..

The night is far spent.. the Day is at hand, the Day of the LORD, the Day of Jesus Christ... which shall come as a thief in the night and as travail upon a woman with child..

Israel is just a name which can be applied to many things/people to illustrate a contrast with another thing/people. For every instance of the word Israel, you have to ask what/who is the Jacob to that Israel.

Opinions are certainly welcome... and this statement clearly lacks any scriptural support.

It's funny, you start a thread and post scriptural information within it... and typically people respond to anything BUT what the person writes..

Care to comment on anything which has been written, or will this simply be your drive by statement having nothing to do with what has been written ?

To me it's speaking of the fact that ISRAEL (first) shall be last, and the church (last) shall be first.

Just my thoughts... doesn't mean that it's correct..
I hadn't thought of that. It does sort of parallel what I had been thinking though, not too far off. Thank you.
:)

Glad to be able to inject some thought here.

Notice the order...

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob...

The night is far spent... the Day is at hand...

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

Can you see that Day approaching..?

Ro 9:6 ¶ Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

As mentioned in the OP, I can't understand why so many seem to have difficulty understanding who Israel is...

Is the word of God not perfectly clear here.. ?

Jacob... his twelve sons... the twelve tribes of Israel...?

Jacob, who is called Israel.

Twelve Apostles, who shall sit upon twelve thrones in the regeneration, judging the twelve tribes of Israel...

The mystery pertaining to Israel... how that they are blinded in part until the fulness of the GENTILES be come in..

Israel, the only nation on earth that is not GENTILE..

Revelation showing us clearly each of the twelve tribes with the seal of God in their foreheads.. with respect to the things which shall be hereafter..

How is all of this not painfully obvious ?
