Today some guy in his 20's said to me-
wait for it-
"Yes Ma'am"
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm only 29 I have 2 months left of it!
LOL

Nope... you're not old. Old is 137-1/2 !

The young man was taught manners. It's quite possible he addresses all women over the age of 18 (or 20) by the respectful "ma'am".

If you are supposedly 'old', then where does this leave the likes of me...

Blessings.

You guys are young.I had an older man of 80 today call me "young lady".You do not know how delighted I was :biggrin2

Often it depends on how people carry themselves, I guess. (Even disguise themselves?)

Glad you enjoyed your day, Ms Kathi... :)

Blessings.

No I don't; (though I can't see his heart); I'm not talking about you now, Ms Kathi, but for example to an 80 year old, a lady several decades younger, who maybe attends a gym, who maybe has a haircut that's a bit spikey and who uses time well spent in front of a make up mirror (this is all hypothetical, not a direct comment) may well seem very much a young lady.

(Since you asked; two cents'.) :)

Blessings.

My dad made me address adults as "ma'am" or "sir", whether they liked it or not! xD I still do it out of habit.

Well,no I do not attend a gym.My hair is cut short and I do not color it and I do not wear makeup.I am a very plain person.Maybe I am a young lady at heart :)

My Mom says I look about 25. I'll take it! :)
Hi Angel, I got a kick out of you saying your mom tells you that you look young. I love listening to amateur talent on America’s Got Talent, Brittan’s Got Talent, and the Xfactor, and the following young lady named Stacy sings especially good. When asked at the first by Simon Cowell if she was any good she gives the standard qualification; sometimes her mom tells her she is good. She is great, and I would no doubt agree with your mom. :)

Nobody on this forum is old. Neither are any of our parents. The Bible says so.

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my sojourning are 130 years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their sojourning." (Gen. 47:9 ESV)

If 130 years is "few", then I don't think any of us here have anything to complain about.

The TOG

The personal title for boys is "Master". Other personal titles include: young man, young lady, young fellow (pronounced 'fella') and, of course, Mister, Miss, Master & Mistress. The personal title "Ms" (pronounced Miz) did not come into use until the 20th century.
