I don't need it.
This thread is not a Bible study, or theology, or apologetics, or Sunday School, or evangelism, or a sermon, or missionary work.
This is a discussion on people's opinions in a casual manner.
I thought CF.net provided an area for this type of discussion.
and here you have it

So what is your honest opinion of Calvinism
Then that person should say "if anyone wants to discuss this and search for answers and why I believe it to be the truth, then come join me, I have started a new thread for this purpose in the appropriate forum".

Arminus, didn't believe that God foreknew, that God could be surprised by our choices.

limited free will. I cant nor does even your position say that we can do whatever we want without God allowing it. if God decides I'm going to sin and in the process of murdering the other , he or she dies, that it is God who didn't stop that. and at times a cop, accident, prevents that act. commonly called providence.
1. God is outside of time and sees past, present and future all at the same time.
If some want to believe God does not know the future, it's not the end of the world as far as I'm concerned. It has nothing to do with someone's salvation.
Calvinism does. It states that God is going to decide where I go after death, not me.

2. We know that God ALLOWS everything.
He allows kids to get cancer. So? What to do or what to think?
I don't quite get your murder analogy...

why do people talk about murder in a casual friendly conversation?
What goes on in their minds?

How does this post answer this question
So what is your honest opinion of Calvinism

For the record what i have posted here in this thread has been done in humor ....we just all dont have the same understanding of what is humor

for it is appointed for all men to die and then Judgement. who set the appointment of death? certainly Not the murder or even the person who is suicidal. God did. he allowed it all to happen. arminimians tend to think we have all this control when in reality we have little we can control. I'm younger then you. I don't see that ,unless I save way more that I wont work. even then plenty of persons did save and were wise and now because of inflation they aren't able to survive. things like that. we aren't able to know the future and can plan for part of what might be.

Yes, well, actually I don't really understand what that was all about.
I'm sure jasonc was making a point I can't understand.
Personally, I don't care to talk about murder or kids with cancer.
But, yes, God does allow things to happen. We can't know why.
We just have to trust Him and stay on HIS side.

I don't do small talk. never have, never will. get over it. not even in church. I have delved into local church histories in fellowship time, spoke of local church histories that are listed under the maps as colored. that's me.

Oh. I see. OK. That's true. We don't control everything.
I do see a difference between God CAUSING things to happen and God ALLOWING things to happen.

Do you understand a difference here?
Also, I DO believe in free will. If I want to smoke, I believe I have the free will to smoke.
I don't think it's God that MAKES me smoke... see?

BTW, I don't smoke.
:halo

However, how does a calvinist believe in man's free will, if the most important thing in his entire life (salvation) is NOT up to his free will to choose??

You say above that Jesus died for all who would be saved.
No. Jesus died for the whole world. It's up to each of us to CHOOSE to be saved.

What goes into making that choice?
I would venture to say "happenstance" is part of that answer.

Which is one reason God forgives all our sins..past, present and future.

Just saying.
I'm getting mixed up between the salvation thread and you and this thread and you.
I'm gonna get scolded by a mod for sure...

Let's say you're married.
You hurt your wife's feelings somehow.
You ask her forgiveness. She forgives you.
Do you also say: And for all the future times I'll hurt your feelings, I ask your forgiveness right now.

What do you think she would say?
It's a sign of love to ask forgiveness.
God deserves your love as much as your wife does.
1 John 1 covers this --- I'm not posting it again.

Each sin needs to be confessed each time.
If you forget it you still aren't going to hell.
You can't ask forgiveness for something you haven't done yet.

Please post some scripture...
You know you can't.

very few subjects are taboo to me. there is a blood spot on the road here locally that many took photos of. it was the sight of a shooting.i drove by and told my wife about what happened. I didn't see the need to photo. I can disconnect from events and talk about the how, why and where and dissect it. unless it really close. that is a thing I learned I was able to do from war .

That would be a relational forgiveness. Hurting your wife's feeling doesn't make her not your wife.

you are really misunderstand the Calvinist. He God doesn't make us sin, He doesn't choose to redeem the lost. its His choose. He doesn't have to save anyone, He choose to. that is what they teach and I agree. nothing good in me nor do I deserve to be saved. its all on God
s nature. btw Methodism teaches that you can be Holy and so Holy that you are perfect that is what Wesley taught. its often posted here.

Yup that our jasonc just like we love Allen Wynne in his goofy ways .... and so on and so on...
a certain small Cherokee in the photo has her quirks, if I could learn to direct her to control that and be inquisitive without touching and destroying we might have a winner. nevermind somehow my stubbornness has jumped into her. twice. Nathan got my nature of inquisitiveness at the wrong time and jaci gets that. I feel for them, lol
