Sorry for no news yesterday but there really wasn't all that much for me to report. Unfortunately we start off today's news to report another school shooting in a high school Alabama.

Also in today's news, a dog that was originally deemed unadoptable is making history as the first deaf canine officer in the state of Washington.

And this weekend don't forget to change your clocks for daylight savings time, but there is currently a bill being proposed in Florida to stay on daylight savings time all year round.

That's all for today's news and hopefully I will be able to post some more tomorrow. :)

I know, I was bullied as a child but I never had to go through with all of the stuff they have to go through with today.

Depends on the auto, and other factors. A junky old car might not be worth much.

In any case, reasonable care must be taken of any prisoners. To keep them safe. Especially minors. Shooting at unarmed suspects caused them to flee at speed. Chasing them at gunpoint until they crashed into a building, kicking them, and putting them in a trunk are all forbidden. A jury of their peers will decide whether or not it was excessive force. Even police officers are limited in what they are allowed to do to unarmed minors, and these were civilians.

If the jury decides that the children were not guilty of a felony, the adults have no legal cover at all.

C'mon, kicking them and putting them in a trunk are forbidden?? What fun are you, lol.

No seriously, I think the apprehending people should be scrutinized the same as Police would be. So there's the exception of just a misdemeanor, ok; would the kids steal a $1500 beater car? Those facts don't seem likely to come out since the kids were just released with no charges. It's a fourth degree felony in OH.

Shooting at the kids while fleeing is something I've addressed repeatedly in the thread, I don't understand responding without reading at least a little context first.

They will be. A jury of their peers will decide if they were justified or reckless. Unless they plea bargain.

...would the kids steal a $1500 beater car?

Kids will go for a joy ride in anything, if someone leaves their keys in the car. They usually drive till they run out of fuel, then walk away. The police find the car, and return it to its owner with a lecture to not leave their keys in the car. Few minors have any intention of taking the car to a chop shop. Because of their actions someone's house was destroyed, as well as their car. The public was put at risk by the chase.

You missed the part where car theft in that State is a felony regardless of the car's value, and the kids were released without being charged. I am much more familiar with kids stealing cars for the purpose of stealing them, and not by entering an unlocked vehicle to find the keys dangling there alluringly.

I also missed the part where someone's house was destroyed, but I fail to assign the blame for that to anyone other than the thieves, and the driver.

Maybe we'll see some facts come to light? It seems clear that justice will not be served. This does indirectly raise the controversial topic of Police chases and the wisdom of them or lack thereof. Police have certainly fired recklessly far more than this band of vigilantes could have, not that any of that is justified.

The chain of events began Sunday when Sheila Beale told Garfield Height police her 2013 Chrysler 200 had been stolen. She told them the car had a GPS tracking system, so she could tell officers where to find it.

But police said the car sped off from them and they didn’t chase it.

The video shows Beale quickly became disgusted with police. She told a Garfield Heights officer, “So there's nothing you can do, right now? You can take the report, but I'm gonna go get my car. I need my car."

Wow. No wonder they decided to get it themselves.

The 14 year old kids were arrested, and booked on suspicion of motor vehicle theft. Then they were transported to the hospital for treatment. The keys were left in the car, which is how the kids got it. They don't seem like pros. Just two stupid kids who saw the keys, and decided to go on a joy ride.

Your link says it's unclear if the kids have been charged, but are "suspected" and "alleged" to have been the thieves. Not sure how there can be any possibility of mistaken identity here. Interesting how many reports say the kids were beaten, vs one source that says they were pushed down. If that had been all they did (without shooting) I fail to see why transporting them in the trunk creates more of a chaotic mess than car theft. Safe detention as compared to any other option. (Legally they would've been in a stronger position to hold them there at gunpoint after calling Police to come get them, but a reasonable argument can't be made that would've somehow been safer)

I don't know the legality of shooting your own car while not hitting anybody, (seems to me a very dumb thing to do) vs simply pushing someone who isn't complying as they are in the process of committing a felony to apprehend them.

Cops sending you to the hospital to be treated for injuries means nothing, it's standard procedure. We may never know what happened in that physical altercation.

The adults obviously needed their car, so leaving it unlocked with the keys in it is just one more stupifying mistake in this train wreck.

No windows or ventilation in trunks. No air bags or seat belts. No heat either, since it was cold outside. Its just not safe to ride in a trunk. Its also illegal (all passengers must be wearing a seat belt).

Street Smarts said:
It told the story of two teenagers who were killed when the car they were in was in a crash. The trunk popped open and they went flying into the road and into the path of oncoming vehicles. The two teens died after they were run over.

Children must wear a seat belt at all times. Its the driver's responsibility to make sure it happens:

Singapore Safety Report said:
The safety investigation determined that the USS John S McCain made a sudden turn to Port (left) into the path of Alnic MC because of a series of missteps that took place after propulsion controls were transferred.
When the Bridge team of Alnic MC saw the USS John S McCain turning, it presumed that the USS John S McCain would be able to safely pass ahead. The collision happened within three minutes of the USS John S McCain turning to Port, and the actions taken by Alnic MC were insufficient to avoid the collision.

Singapore released its report on the incident.

None of this is really new information. Cops transport criminals without seat belts regularly, rarely does anything go wrong. Plus this little trip downtown was probably brief. That the Police refused to assist should be a mitigating factor, but if the kids aren't charged that won't come to bear.

Stupidity all around, but just watching people make off with your stuff is not the way to fix our social ills.

Indiana resisted switching to daylight savings time for many years. Then they finally gave in, in 2006.

Now there's a big push Nation wide to do away with it.
