A friend of mine who is an airline pilot called me on my way home last night to tell me about this (and to ask if I would help him move a car tonight).
He was saying it was probably a pin in the shaft that fatigued. That was his best guess since that's an inspection item. He guesses whoever inspected it last didn't do their job. Again, speculation. He also said he expects the FAA to have that item inspected more frequently.

As far as the article, what a God thing! It's nice to read that kind of reporting.

I STARTED NOT TO READ THE STORY BUT GLAD I DID the fact christians on flight praying helped guide the pilot in
