Discussion in 'Theology' started by Ed the Ned, Sep 19, 2017.
I consider that Prov 27:17 (NIRV) provides some of the answer to your question: 'As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another'. One purpose of forums like this is to sharpen our own theology and also understand the other person's view. In the sharpening process, some views are changed while others are modified.
Actually I had no questions myself, but wanted others to see the Word in it's alive and morphing mode.
Your answer is absolutely a way to refine and complete thoughts that folks have (including me).
The purpose is to understand God's view. His view is so broad we limit it due to our individual kidney, liver, heart, or other body of Christ view.
If all this is slipping by without cognition, just rattle my chain.
Ok now, it's my turn. It's like what I see on the news, Fox news that is, I see so called Americans burning our flag, and I say to myself, If you don't like the USA, go to another Country, just go!
The same goes for this great Forum, CF.net. For you critics, go somewhere else if you don't REALLY like our Forum!! Attitude is so critical in whatever we do. CF.net is not the only Christian Forum I've been a member. Some are all luvy duvy, warm and fuzzy, no thank you. Others leave theology for others, no thank you.
After searching, I landed here because there are some great theologians here. I have teamed up with Soul man and Hermit. The three of us have started presenting threads on various subjects of interest, theological of course.
Hey, my opinion is, CF.net, love it or leave it!!
Discussion on theology can help people.
You better be able to present the mighty works of God in their language. By the spirit things about their life, health, demonic attacks, should surface on some level. I know people who live in a world of math. I also know people who only know words. God deals with math, words, discerning spirits, healing and a host of other things.
There are those who are weak, and you better not put them away. Sure you can not get into some things with them, but you can know Jesus Christ and him crucified with them.
I love looking at the four stomachs of the cud chewing clean ox, and learning about preachers. But you know what. It appears only one out of a thousand sees the good of the discussion. We are each different. We are each gifted differently. A liver in the body of Christ is about glycogen. If not careful a liver thinks everyone should be a liver. But. Kidneys are in the body o Christ too. Filtering out waste is necessary. We need to see the broad picture.
That about sums it up. Personally I think a lot of it is pride.
Yep. People need to learn to appreciate the different viewpoints and perspectives rather than attacking them so much.
Its been done a long time. You would think the pillars of the faith would understand such a simple thing that we know. Hindsight is easier.
Mark 9: 10 NIV They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what "rising from the dead" meant.
All viewpoints? I agree that we shouldn't attack people, but do we need to appreciate all viewpoints?
I guess I'll jump in here. OSAS vs OSnAS, etc....these debates generally don't seem to go anywhere, and they often turn acrimonious. Then again, churches and whole denominations have split over such issues. Why should an internet forum be much different?
I will say that reading over other peoples' view points does challenge me to put my beliefs, as they develop, into perspective, challenge them (to a point...), etc. Always a good thing.
I don't know that my outlook has changed any from skimming over some of these discussions. I'm a bit more open to osas and the idea that sinners might be able to make a decision for Christ out of "free will" than I was in years past. Other than that, I think I skim over some of these discussions to see what others believe, and how that affects their world view, etc. It is...interesting, when one sees how many different interpretations of Scripture have developed in the Protestant side of Christendom.
As long as their within the parameters of orthodox Christianity....sure.
no the question is not stupid. i have yet to see very many post end up in discussion it usually ends up your wrong your cherry picking scriptures ..i posted in another forum on a subject of false believing .i simply remarked i had a know so salvation . it went south from brad grammar bad punctuation to it made no sense . casting crowns recorded a song many years ago titled if we are the Body. Jesus prayed in john 17 we would be one in him.... so no its not a stupid question . where is the edifying at ?
could it be because of the arguments that follow
Exodus 30:10 KJV
Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
Then what happened?
Jesus today is interceding for us.
If your question is about my comment about babes and where they post, that is probably a big part of it, but I believe those new to faith stay drinking milk in the shallow end. Later in their walks, they are more likely to float over to the deep end with a T-bone in their hand. And even later they start attacking others with that bone.
