If it's too much or people feel uncomfortable then I understand and it's okay if some may ask for the thread to be deleted.

But this is curiosity from another thread. For the more "newer" Christians those who may have been agnostic, atheist and things of that nature, in a more secular changing society and world what made you open your heart, minds and arms to Christianity and God? Because a lot of others are doing the opposite since religion is becoming more censored now.

I think that's a perfectly valid question. Now, how would folks feel about the answers? I've got one, I'm just not sure it'd be received well ...

I have always been open to God but christians, insisting on theology that does not match the world around us closed me off from christianity.

Short version is after I got married and found my wife's church and they made much more sense and had more historical roots than the church's I had found earlier.

"in a more secular changing society and world what made you open your heart"

Jesus. I surrendered Aug, 19, 1998.

I was just wondering out of curiosity of how you feel religion is becoming censored and by whom.

Oh. Sorry I didn't realize that. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Kind of an old thread.. :wave

nah..... 5 or 15 years 'might' be kinda old thread..... this one's a baby. ! :)

(I checked some kinda old ones --- there were a few good ones; and a lot of them never resolved. )

Satan is the prince of this earth.Look around you it is very obvious. It is not popular to be a Christian among many.Where I used to work most would look down on me for my Christian status.Jesus is my Lord and Savior and I love Him with all my heart.Sometimes I feel like a flower in the desert on this earth because this is not my home.God has put me on this earth for a purpose and I am taking this journey with Him in the drivers seat and I am in the passengers seat.I do not care what this world thinks.I have sacrified many worldly things because the Bible tells me that I should stay away from them. The world would think I was downright weird.I have a ticket to heaven and I can not wait. The Holy Spirit guides me and counsels me.My faith is increasing. The Bible tells us who is going to win.

It is in the public sector of the USA and being done by the liberals. God is on His throne and knows what why and where He is doing what why and where... no need to worry just be active

Christ made me open my heart to God not christianity. My religion is non denominational
This would have to be the truth for me too. Yes it's who and what jesus is that makes me accept him, not what christianity is today.

The true church cannot be seen or made with human hands. Christ is within all believers if not all. The unveiling of Christ within is taking place, he cannot be found in a book, the scriptures are a testimony of him .Keep seeking knocking and asking and he will be revealed in you

grace helps! and dedication!

several good answers, some others may be too - it seems like most 'christianity' is run like a business, churches want more members and more money and heaven help their souls! since we all , practically, grew up in a family and in a society where the churches are powerless spiritually(have you seen any simply and honestly throw out the demons and heal the sick and live righteously ???) ,
watch and see if the agnostics or atheists or whoevers are joining to have friends, or are they really and truly saved ? (when and if the church itself isn't likely to be!).
and they'll just continue 'in fellowship' and worshiping Jesus with their lip service, with hearts far from Him - and getting farther away unless they seek the Creator Himself and not popularity or religion. oh, there's so big a part of 'christendom' that has claimed longer then our families have been around that they are 'saved' by Jesus, but anyone with an ability to read the KJV or RSV in english can see through their fakery/hypocrisy by comparing their lives with what is written in Scripture and praying to the One True Creator Yhwh for help to know what is true and what isn't true. (don't ever trust flesh/mankind!/man nor accept what 'man' says without prayer and testing)... ... ...

I have always known about Jesus.I felt like my heart was always geared to Jesus.Even though I was not brought up in a Christian family. My first husband was an atheist and the idea of not knowing God made me feel bad. Then things started happening.Alot of tragedies.I turned to God and asked Him into my life and asked him to help me.Then I started to seriously think of where I wanted to spend eternity.A person can die at any moment.Your next second is in the hands of God.I have truly fallen in love with Jesus Christ.I do not have a religion but I have a daily relationship with God.I have sacrificed many worldly things. My focus is on God and God alone not on this world.
