Is the Chinese 'Year of the Dog' Also The 'Year of the Rapture'?

Jesus Christ states in the closing chapter of the Book of Revelation that on the outside of the gates of heaven...there will be dogs!

Revelation 22:15
“Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”

It is interesting that on February 16th 2018 will be the Chinese New Year which will herald in the year of the dog!

I just wonder if the Chinese 'year of the dog' isn't the same dog cited by Jesus Christ in Revelation 22:15. What if the rapture takes place during the Chinese, or lunar, 'year of the dog' when Jesus Christ returns for all of his faithful just before mankind's final judgment.

If the rapture does indeed take place during the Chinese, or lunar, 'year of the dog' then all those who are left behind will indeed become 'dogs on the outside' of God's Holy City.

Another point worth mentioning is that if Revelation 22:15 signifies the 'year of the rapture' as being during 'the year of the dog' then it would validate Christ's saying that 'the first shall be last and the last first' for it must be remarked that the last utterance by Christ in the Book of Revelation is - “Yes, I am coming soon.”

Revelation 22, while being the last chapter in the Book of Revelation and in the bible, points to the rapture as the first event that inaugurates all the other events in the Book of Revelation.

The Book of Revelation depicts mankind's final judgment as Jesus Christ said that man's last days will be like Noah's day and Lot's days. Noah's days ended with God judging mankind from above (hint: rain water) while Lot's days ended with God judging mankind from below (hint: fire and brimstone). The Book of Revelation highlights judgments by God's angels above and judgments by fallen angels (hint: Satan himself) below.

Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

It must be emphasized that days of Noah represent the 'Pillar of Cloud' and the days of Lot represent the 'Pillar of Fire'. Both a Pillar of Cloud and a Pillar of Fire led the Israelites (hint: soon to be the only righteous people left after the rapture) through the desert to the 'Promised Land' which is ultimately heaven itself!

Our last days are indeed God, as Jesus Christ indwelling in every believer through the Holy Spirit, leading his faithful as a Pillar of Cloud (hint: the indwelling Holy Spirit) and as a Pillar of Fire (hint: the resurrected Jesus Christ) through the desert of sin straight to the promised land in heaven.

Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and then get baptized and rest assured that you'll be included in the rapture when Jesus Christ will return for all of his believers to live a life in heaven for eternity with God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit!

God Bless

There are so few, today, tat will preach all of the scriptures amd even less that will include Fire and Brimstone but God is Love has become so misused that many are so poorly taught that to them Universalism is only logical. They learn nothing of God`s Wrath nor of God`s Justice in these New Covenant and late day New Testament Churches because, not all of, Yhwh`s attributes are taught, resulting in a people deceived.

Good teaching brother.

My Hebrew Teacher, Alan Horvath, seems to believe that the rapture will happen during one of the trumpet festivals. He has a video on that if anyone's interested.

The "Year of the Dog" is derived from the Chinese Zodiac, which is entirely pagan and based on astrology. Moreover, it did not exist until nearly 200 years after Jesus lived. But you are thinking that an allusion to the Year of the Dog as a clue to the date of the Rapture may have been made by Jesus in Revelation, which was written approximately 100 years before the Chinese Zodiac existed? I won't engage in debate since that is a no-no, but I will award you the Runner Merit Badge for the Most Creative Use of Revelation In a Long Time (this is a very coveted Merit Badge because creative uses of Revelation are legion).

Like all such "teachers," Horvath has tap-danced away from his enthusiasm for 2017 as the Year of the Rapture for obvious reasons: https://rev12daily.blogspot.com/2017/06/the-most-comprehensive-rapture-update.html

So why do you want to insinuate that Brother Horvath is in error. In case you don't know, there were many "watchers" saying the same thing. Alan was very careful to say "the rapture could possibly take place 2017". I've noticed that you have a very negative attitude toward other theologians, are you more wise and understanding than they are?...Just asking.

Brother Horvath is a theologian? Are the posters on this forum theologians? Is my wife a theologian if I declare her one?

I have great respect for many actual theologians - Alvin Plantinga, Paul Tillich and dozens and dozens of others. Brother Horvath, who may be entirely sincere, has no theological training whatsoever. He is, IMHO, yet one more in a long line of self-appointed "teachers" who, to my complete astonishment, manage to attract sizable flocks. I am astonished that you would give him five minutes of your time, since you had always struck me as being above this sort of thing - but that's between you and God and not my concern.

I have been listening to characters attach "probable dates" to the Rapture since at least 1970, when we were assured that it would be 1972 at the latest. In one version, JFK was being kept alive on Onassis' yacht and would be the beast who seemed to have miraculously recovered from a fatal head wound. BWAHAHAHA, as the saying goes.

This sort of thing is an immediate red flag to me. Theologians do not ratchet-up the faithful with this sort of thing. Self-promoters like Brother Horvath do. Do I have a very negative attitude toward it? Indeed I do. (For that matter, I don't believe in the doctrine of the Rapture as an event separate and distinct from the Second Coming, but I have no axe to grind with those who do.)

Am I more wise and understanding than Alvin Plantinga and Paul Tillich? Hardly. Than Brother Horvath? Yes, I think so, although you are free to disagree. Some of the silliness that gets posted on these forums cries out for at least a modicum of wisdom and understanding. However, since I have promised myself to be a kinder and gentler Runner, I promise to refrain from further comment on Brother Horvath, the HalleluYAH Scriptures, or the Hebrew Roots movement.

This is you're hero theologian, Alvin Plantinga?

Summary of God and Other Minds

The book explores, with great rigor and precision, the rationality of belief in God. In In Part II, he considers and rejects some major arguments against belief in God, including the problem of evil, the paradPart, I, Plantinga examines a number of traditional arguments for God's existence and concludes that none is successful.ox of omnipotence, and verificationism. Finally, in Part III, he explores various analogies between belief in God and belief in other minds. He concludes that these two beliefs are in the same epistemic boat: if one is rationally justified, so is the other. Since belief in other minds is clearly rational, Plantinga argues, so is belief in God.

I'll pass on this guy thank you.

Chopper, Alvin Plantinga is acknowledged by Christians and non-Christians alike as one of the greatest philosophers and Christian apologists of the past 100 years. There is NO Christian theologian or apologist - NONE - who does not have the highest regard for Alvin Plantinga. If you know him only as "this guy" and from the out-of-context quotation above, you are merely displaying your WOEFUL ignorance of Christian theology. But I will leave to "your guy," Brother Horvath. BWAHAHAHA, as the saying goes.

Here is William Lane Craig - perhaps you HAVE heard of him? - on Alvin Plantinga:

Dr. Craig: Well, I think my favorite philosopher is Alvin Plantinga. I have just been so impressed by both the man and his work. He is on the one hand just a genius, his style of doing philosophy is so careful and so clean, so analytical. And every issue that he's touched he's made a major contribution. His work on the problem of evil was epical in terms of resolving the logical version of the problem of evil. His ontological argument was revolutionary, and helped to breathe new life into that argument that many had dismissed before. His work on religious epistemology, and the proper basicality of Christian belief, and his account of warrant has been revolutionary. His work on abstract objects, the nature of God, conceptualism, has been important. He's doing work now in the area of religion and science. And it just seems that every area he touches he does bring genuinely fresh insights to topics that have been discussed and rediscussed for hundreds of years. So I feel that the man is truly one of the great philosophers. I think he is like a modern day Leibniz, in our age. And it's a privilege to be alive and working in this discipline at a time when this man is alive and working. And so he is certainly my favorite philosopher in terms of his work.
But I have to say that Plantinga is also incredibly gracious. He exemplifies the Christian life. He's humble, he is kind, he is charitable toward others with whom he disagrees, he's orthodox in his theology. He really does exemplify Christian character and virtues.

I must say, you have blown your cover with your enthusiasm for Horvath and your ignorance of someone of the magnitude of Plantinga. You had me fooled for a couple of years.

You sir, enjoy insulting me, a lover of being washed in and growing it the Word of God every morning for at least 2 hours and some times 4. The Ruah ha' Qodesh, led me to Alan Horvath after praying for an avenue of Truth for years. In you're ridicule of Brother Horvath, you are on dangerous grounds. Not only are you insulting me, but you are insulting a serious man of God Alan Horvath.

Apparently, you are blind to the working of the Holy Sprit's work and anointing on Alan's ministry of teaching....I'm fed up with your insults and your prideful remarks of a man that I hold in high regard....See ya, wouldn't want to be ya!!

Have you noticed, Chopper - because I certainly have, and I believe from comments from others on other threads that they have - what an angry and entirely different character you have become since you became enamored of Horvath? Does this transformation - at least in the character of "kindly Chopper" as it previously appeared in these forums - not concern you at all? Have you honestly looked in a mirror? I am indeed "blind" to the working of the Holy Spirit and anointing on Horvath's ministry of teaching, and it appears that 99% of the rest of the Christian community is as well. You are welcome to hold Horvath in high regard and follow him to the ends of the earth, as are those who follow Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland and any number of other supposed men of God. But since you are actively promoting him and his teachings on these forums as though they were from the very mouth of God, I believe I am well within my rights to examine his work and point out his utter lack of qualifications and the inconsistencies in his teachings.

Rev 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning

Dog in this verse is the same as all who will be left outside the gate after Christ returns as they have heard the gospel preached, but yet reject Christ. A dog is listed as a beast as well as all the others that are listed as beastly people that will have their place in the lake of fire.

The rapture occurs after the resurrection of the dead in Christ, in which both the resurrection and rapture happen at His coming.

15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

  • And the dead in Christ will rise first.
  • Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

The other thing that happens at His coming is the destruction of the antichrist.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
2 Thessalonians 2:8

  • and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
