A lot of times we say to someone "good luck", but is there really a such thing as luck? What does the Bible say about this?

Good question. As a believer, I avoid saying good luck or avoid using the word luck. It's not Biblical. God is sovereign; luck and fortune have no place in a Bible believer's thinking.

Right on, coincidences maybe (ordained by God)....but not luck or "chance"

If we assume that we have an 'honest game' with 'straight dice' and roll a single six-sided die -- the odds of winning can be determined by the ratio of total number of winning possibilities and the total number of all remaining possibilities. Rolling a 6-sided die yields a 5:1 chance to be able to correctly predict what number will come up.

If I were to consecutively roll a single die 1,000 times it would be expected that my "number" would come up 200 times.
Should it come up 201 times some might say, :shocked! "Winner! winner, chicken dinner!"
If my number came up 1,000 times, it would not be luck and I would merely examine my assumptions - that is, "Am I playing with crooked dice?"

The words "luck" and "good fortune" are commonly used when an unexpected good comes someone's way.

Personally, I don't use these terms because, as a disciple of Christ, I attribute these unexpected goods as having their source in God, and not in Lady Luck or Fanny Fortune.
