My granddaughters expect a Valentine's thought, here in Italy.
Don't know what's going on over there.
As far as gifts between me and hubby.
No. It seems a little silly at this point.

Tell your daughter to tell him to buy you a box of chocolates
Or have your daughter buy it and give it to him to give to you
Then open a bottle of Brunello and have a fun evening

You're sweet Allen, but what's the use if it's not HIS idea???
I'm not a supafical person.
You know superficial.
It's OK. I'm good with it.

We need to become something other than commercial. All men everywhere, and all boys even thinking about being able to saying hi to a sweet schoolmate need to overcome their lack, reach out in absolute assuredness of their love, and sing the following words to their valentine. Rise up I tell you! Fear be gone!! Get thee behind my back Satan!!!

Yo eugene are you smoking something?

I like the idea of Valentine's Day for adults.
Example, people at my husband's employment scheduled meetings that night. He is going to tell them that he's taking his wife out. They shouldn't have a problem with it? Since it's a day for love?

Is that you in your profile pic?

Its great, I don't have to buy anyone anything, and sit over a candle lit dinner listening to every detail about there day while pretending I am really interested. :)
I have interesting things to say to my husband about my days. (I'm on here aren't I?!) That's interesting enough. Actually he probably does get bored if I talk about Christian interactions. :wink

We live in such a commercialized world and sorry my hubby and I do not buy (pun intended) into it. We don't need a special day to say I love you and shower each other with gifts of flowers and candies that will be gone in a couple of days. Fancy dinners we are not into. Give us a good barbecue rib restaurant where the sauce is all over our face and hands as we laugh at each other making a mess out of ourselves. There is not a day that goes by that we do not say I love you throughout the day as he even text me from his job just to say "I love you my love". Twenty years and not a day missed.

I think we always show love to the one's we love every day. At least I'd hope so.
On the one day it is celebrated, that's just as commercial as Christmas has become. However, it does make people excited to think on that day we'll get all sorts of piled on love and affections and gifts and even dinner.
Nothing wrong with celebrating Valentines. It's what is in the heart of the ones celebrating that matters.

Why only one day a year to act different. Thats half pie.

Everyday should be valentines, thanksgiving, christmas, and so on. Ok don't need to spend large and eat large everyday but you know what I mean.

The greatest in life according to Jesus is to love God and Love one another.

Tis still the season to be jolly.

Model. wow

Well my view on Valentines Day is simply this; do you need a special day out of the year to say I love you to that special someone? No. But do we need a day to celebrate the birth of Christ and His death and resurrection? No. That along with Valentines Day should be celebrated every day of the year. However, just like it's special to be among loved ones and exchanging gifts for Christmas, it's sort of nice to have a special day with your significant other just to plan on taking time out of your schedule to do anything else. That's why it really gets hard for me around those special times to have a fiancée currently behind bars.

ahhh valentine's day. as a celibate non-heterosexual....really doesn't affect me, lol. in years past, id be some lonely ladies' gay play date for the day. these days...-shrug-

my parents, on the other hand, do small, sweet lil valentine's stuff for each other. its...touching, really. they're also going on -40- years of marriage, which I find impressive.
