PRAYER UPDATE FROM ISRAEL (JULY 11, 2006)

_______________________________________________________________________

1. PRAYER ON THE 17TH OF TAMMUZ AGAINST BREACHING OF THE WALL

From sundown on Wednesday the 12th until sundown Thursday the 13th is
the "17th of Tammuz" in the Hebrew calendar, an ancient "fast day"
lamenting the breaching of the wall of Jerusalem by the Babylonians in July
586 B.C.

In Zechariah 8:19 the LORD of Hosts promises that some day this fast (of the fourth month) along with three others "will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah...".

That time of joy and gladness is, however, still future for Israel. On the occasion of the fast this year, Jerusalem faces a further evil "breaching"- a
week-long international celebration of homosexuality, lesbianism,
bisexuality and transgender currently scheduled to take place beginning the
second week in August, less than a month away (See Prayer Update for 24
May).

The majority of Israelis are against the event. In recent weeks a
coalition of Jewish, Muslim and Christian religious authorities have come
together in an effort to stop the parade and celebration from taking
place, and religious parties in the Knesset have filed a joint
no-confidence motion over it.

Yet for all the outcry, few voices seem to be being heard where it could count. In the civil and national governments, most seem more concerned with denying responsibility. Although Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski has spoken out strongly against the parade in city council meetings, he has yet to appear before the Knesset to discuss the matter.

The Jerusalem Municipality says that it does not have jurisdiction to cancel or approve the event; the Kadima Party's new Minister of Jerusalem has ruled that the government is unauthorized to rule on the controversy.

At this point, it still appears that the only body capable of effectively stopping it are the Jerusalem police, due to issue a report this week.

If they decided it presented a security threat to Jerusalem, the organizers would be forced to move the event to Tel Aviv. Today a flyer appeared in many mailboxes in the Mea Shearim Orthodox offering a 20,000 shekel award for anyone who would kill a homosexual in the parade. Although, obviously put out by a tiny fringe element, such incitement could backfire and make the police balk at rejecting the permit.

Another security danger which has been more and more pointed out of
late, is the effect the event's taking place in Jerusalem will have on
Israel's Muslim neighbors, granting them further grounds and excuse for
attacking Israel because of our allowance of such things on the streets
of a city considered holy to their religion.

In the meantime, organizers say that they are expecting thousands to
arrive for the week, and that many have already booked hotels in
Jerusalem. The event even includes a "Youth Day".

An Orthodox woman named Rebecca, collecting signatures against the
World Pride event, was quoted in the Arutz-7 news service in a statement we find rings clear as a bell: "I want to make it clear that this is not a
homophobic issue; if the Mardi Gras, a heterosexual event, were to be
held here, we would object with the same vociferousness. The reason is
because Jerusalem is the spiritual dimension of the world; it is a
spiritual jewel to the world, and we don't want it tarnished...

We want to show that the majority of the people in this city do not want sexuality paraded around without modesty or dignity. In addition, homosexuality in particular is not something that we want to see advocated in our holy city."

Tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, with the beginning of the Fast of Tammuz, another solemn assembly has been called by believing leaders in the city, for people to come together to cry out to God that this event WILL
NOT TAKE PLACE, AND THE CITY WILL NOT BE BREACHED BY THIS PROUD TACTIC OF THE ENEMY.

PLEASE PRAY:

*For the meeting of Believers this Wednesday evening in Jerusalem
*For hearts in believers in Jerusalem and all of Israel to be vexed at
this looming evil and to be led by the Spirit in standing in the gap
and warring in the heavenlies, that it not be released here or in any
other city in Israel.
*That the infrastructure of World Pride will be thrown into confusion.
*For Jerusalem Mayor Lupolianski and other civil and political leaders
to stand up and take a stand against this event taking place in
Jerusalem.
*FROM Psalm 79:
"O do not remember former iniquities against us! Let Your tender
mercies come speedily to meet us, For we have been brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us,
and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name's sake! Why should
the nations say, 'Where is their God?; Restore us, O God; Cause Your
face to shine, And we shall be saved!" (vss 8-10a; 3).

2. WAR IN GAZA

Israel continues military operations in Gaza aimed at obtaining the
freedom of kidnapped Corporal Gilad Shalit (captured from his tank a
little over two weeks ago by Palestinian Commandoes-two of his comrades were murdered and another seriously injured) and stopping the rain of
rockets on Israeli towns and cities near to Gaza (see last Update). Last
week three rockets landed in Ashkelon.

PLEASE PRAY:
*For young Gilad Shalit...that he will be protected and find a
revelation of the God who protected his forefathers and prepared a table for
them in the presence of their enemies. Pray Psalm 79:11, "Let the
groaning of the prisoner come before You; According to the greatness of Your
power Preserve those who are appointed to die..."
*For protection in body, mind and spirit for believing Messianic Jewish
soldiers who are in harm's way within Gaza. There were reports that
Hamas has developed poisonous gas, and will use it against the
soldiers...although none has yet been discovered. Pray that these believing
young men will be courageous...will have their hearts and minds guarded by
God's shalom ... that they will lead with integrity and wisdom, and
receive favor from those in authority over them ... that they will find
their source of life in Messiah, even in the midst of the Battle (Psalm
27:1-3).
*For Israel's political and military leaders, that they will receive
wise counsel and make decisions which protect Israel and stop the
continued acts of aggression which have been made across our borders.

3. THE SOULED-OUT CAMP HAS BEGUN

For ten years a group of believers from Chicago have come each summer
to Israel to join with Israeli believing youth ... strengthening them,
encouraging them, serving them, teaching them, doing outreaches with
them.

This year's "Souled Out" camp has begun. There are some 100
Israeli youth and American and Israeli young adults leading and overseeing
their activities. They will be spending these two weeks worshipping,
fellowshipping in the Lord, working together, reaching out to bring love,
encouragement and the life of Messiah to Israelis in rehab centers
(many victims of terror), hospitals, malls.

PLEASE PRAY:
*That the Holy Spirit would be poured out on the youth in this camp
through the ministry of the young adult leaders ... that there would be
much equipping and edifying which will leave the Israeli youth in a
higher place in their walk with God...ready and eager to move ahead with him
during the rest of the summer and into the next school year in the
fall.
*That the light of the Hope of Messiah will shine through these youth
and young adults so that they bring the aroma the God to the Israelis
they will be visiting.
*For angels to protect the entire camp each day as they move through
the land.
*That no weapon formed against this camp will prosper...all which rises
up against it will fall.
*For all of God's purposes to be accomplished in those attending the
camp, those who have come from abroad to help in it, and to all whom they
will affect.
*For divine revelation regarding Israel and God's work in her to be
released in all who participate in the Camp-both American and Israeli.

That email was before today's news @ Hezbollah capturing 2 Israeli soldiers & taking them to Lebanon: the Israeli Prime Minister declared that, & shellings from Hezbollah in Lebanon, to be acts of war, warning of far-reaching reprisals, & Israeli jets have struck Hezbollah positions in Lebanon

BBC says, 'Complicating this latest flare-up in regional tension is the fact that Hezbollah has the backing of both Syria and Iran.

Israeli and American officials have already been saying Syria is partly to blame for the capture of Corporal Shalit since it plays host to part of the Hamas leadership.

The pressure on both Syria and the Lebanese government will now intensify'.

Pray that people worldwide realise that this brings Zechariah 12 prophecies nearer, on the Road to Armageddon, & will turn to Christ as Saviour & Lord
