Google has launched their new phone, the Pixel. Kind of disappointing that Google couldn't come up with anything original and basically had to make an iPhone without actually making an iPhone.

I am debating on the Pixel. My next phone will utilize the Google Fi network, which the Pixel is designed to use. The phone is capable of scanning networks, and "juggling" between available networks (3 in Google Fi). The rates are among the cheapest, 10 bucks for 1 gig of data, and it carries forward to additional months.

Unfortunately, I do not need a phone at this time, but maybe next year I'll purchase the Google Pixel to work on the Google Fi network.

God bless,
William

Interesting, first I've heard of Google Fi.

There are several Android manufacturers who have been accused of making the iPhone. HTC was said to do this and Samsung as well. The Samsung Galaxy 8 is rumored to come with a passive home button for the first time, right after the iPhone 7 incurred the same change. Really? Apparently, consumer demand didn't speak as loudly as the iPhone did. More and more android devices come without a swappable battery, and this was always an android differentiator.

To be fair, the iPhone has come to look more and more like androids. Apple and their devotees mocked Samsung for the size of their Note series devices and LG big screens. For some reason, this criticism waned when the iPhone followed suit and went big. Android came out with Android Wear, and here came Apple with the iWatch. Android presented wireless charging, and what do you know? So did Apple.

They're both guilty of copying what works. I've never owned an iPhone, simply on the basis that I love the open source nature of android. Apple traps iPhone users in everything Apple, and the longer you invest, the more you have no choice but to continue down that road. I like my choices with android, too. I've owned and HTC, two Samsungs, and an LG.

I'd live to have a Pixel and run pure Android, or as close as you get to pure Android, but there's no way I'm dropping the cost of a pc on a cell phone when they are so quickly made obsolete.

Apple is the best and always has been. I think that we have owned nearly every Apple device available at one point or another. Apple devices work seamlessly together, even down to the last detail. I have an iPhone 4s, 6s Plus, and a Mac, and whenever I get a call I can answer it on any of them. It is slightly creepy to have three devices ringing at you, but oh well.

Just think... It wasn't that long ago when antichrist couldn't read our thoughts now we've given him carte blanche..

Technology is neither inherently evil or good. How someone uses it is.

You describe my aversion to Apple. The self contained ecosystem is much to restrictive for me. Android open source, all the way. Also, no choice or options in devices. Whatever the Aunt Apple cooks up is what you get. She didn't like the headphone port anymore, so that's just the way it goes. Good products. Way too much control.
