It's Official, The World Is Going to be Taken Over By Robots

What films like Terminator and I, Robot have in common is that people are stupid enough to put all of the worlds robots under the control of a single master robot. The master robots malfunctions and takes over the world. In the real world, combat bots have multiple safeguards, and no one bot is ever given control of all of the other bots.

I'm sorry but I don't really believe that an atheist is wrong for their beliefs, they just believe differently than I do. For all I know, I could be the one that is mistaken. I really don't believe that I am because I hold strongly in my faith and Christian beliefs, but that's really all that they are to me. Beliefs. And que the angry mob of people coming after me for saying that lol

You are still a fairly new Christian. Perhaps you will develop more faith as you become spiritually mature.

But without faith no one can please God. We must believe that God is real and that he rewards everyone who searches for him. Hebrews 11:6 CEV

Which I do believe. Very strongly. I think that part has already been established. I just don't agree calling somebody with different beliefs wrong. They just believe differently than us that's all.

Automated drones can be programmed to operate independently. UAVs in the Middle East are programmed to automatically return to base if the control signal can't be found. The thing is, no drone has the capability of taking over other drones. It simply wouldn't make sense to do what Skynet was programmed to do. No sane person would do this. The people who build these things are smart, and build in multiple safety systems.

A single drone can malfunction, and bomb friendlies. No drone is ever given the ability to take over all of the other drones in the world. This makes no sense. Skynet is a fairy tale, not reality.
I did say aI wasn't possible but a centralised computer in control of a drone is possible. Uavs are flown by men, remotely abd live.

Yes, computers remotely flying drones, instead of people, is likely. However, who would put one single computer in charge of all the drones and missiles in the world? If the one computer malfunctions or is hacked, chaos. Multiple computers with the ability for people to override them is the norm.

Letting Skynet have the ability to decide whether to launch all the ICBMs by itself is not going to happen. No one would design a system that way. Only Hollywood does things like that.

but it can be hacked. we have seldom prevented any hack on our military defenses . it guys will say often the hackers get away and security is always behind. that's what I'm saying, the navy and army can via the pentagon and even the others can listen to each guy in a fight and what is going on with the blue force tracker. I watched engagements in Iraq that way, via satcoms. the units locations and videos were live if they were on a mission.

I remember Dr.Hawking gave an interview just weeks before he died. He was asked how long he thought the human race would last. He said not 100 years. Earth will move on after we're gone as she always has. We're parasites. We take but we don't give or sustain our environment and there's a price to be paid.

May God have mercy on him.

Less secure computers are regularly hacked, but our coders usually get control back pretty quickly. No hackers have launched ICBMs. The important stuff is well protected.

Blue force just tracks troops, it doesn't control their vehicles. Skynet can't use Blue Force to get control of their vehicles and use their weapons against our troops. Foreign hackers can use Blue Force to track our troops, if they get in.

Uhm tracking, opsec, where they are going.

Nothing is fool proof.we dont hear the leaks.

ICBMs use 70s tech, not connected and requires keys to fire.that's why .

Yes, and the system has not yet been fully tested versus a major power. In the Middle East, ISIS et al don't generally value a technical education. They often prefer a few years of religious school, and many think American technology is akin to magic. China has lots of bright people who studiously apply themselves to technical studies. Many study in the US, and then go back home. They would be much more formidable tech wise.

Keys turned by people are a good idea. They should keep that in place when they upgrade. No Skynet launching by itself.

Yes, he was all mixed up. He had a talent for math, but his atheism got in the way of him understanding the way things really are.

But again, it's just the way that we believe and understand it because we're Christians and we really don't believe in anything that contradicts the Bible. However, that isn't to say that I believe that science and religion aren't compatible to a point. I believe that it is very possible that God created the world with a big bang.

Robots are good in some areas, but not so good when it takes jobs away like what is happening at Walmart's with their new shopping carts. You walk around the store and use a scanner that is in the cart and scan all your items as you bag as you go. Then you print out the receipt and scan it at the register and pay your groceries. More self checkout that does away with needed jobs, especially in rural areas.

Yes, this is true about Wallmart. However, it does support a higher wage for Wallmart employees.

I am a developer in the automotive industry, and I can tell you the automotive industry has hardened and isolated the systems in their vehicles to prevent attacks. Like jasonc said, their is no longer a physical link between the throttle and the gas pedal. Brakes and steering can also be controlled by the onboard computer.
I personally know a developer that programs AI. We brought IBM Watson in to resolve an issue we were having. They told us they were not equipped to handle it. A year and a half later and literally thousands of lines of code, he not only resolved the issue, but made it self learning and it is currently growing and learning daily.

My car has limited self learning capability. According to the manual, if the battery is disconnected for some reason, it takes the car a couple of weeks to retrain itself on how to optimize engine performance to my driving style. The stability control system can turn on individual brakes automatically during turns. So far, so good. Skynet has not taken over my car. You guys did a good job.
