What about the crusades? What about all the oppression Christianity imposed upon Europe in the Middle Ages? What about the Salem witch hunts? What about God hates fags aka the Westboro Baptist?
Have you visited the Bible Belt? If your not a member of "our" denomination, your not a Christian

My point isn't to smear Christianity any more than it is to protect the Muslim faith. My point is to show that any religion can become divided against what it deems secular and what it seems heretical within its own ranks.

I believe this tendency is a tribal human tendency and isn't isolated to any single religion

In conclusion, we Christians have to clean our own house before we can tell others how to clean ours. Jesus even said we ought to pull the log out of our own eye before we try to take the speck from our brothers eye. The Church is split among too many denominations and Jesus said the world would know us through our unity. Why not work on that, and maybe it will catch the eye of others seeking the same peace, and we can become great fishers of men like God intended for us

But im not a member of either. Corrupt christianity and islam. They just as bad as each other. Im just a non denominational, individual reader and listener of Jesus and the Gospel. I have just as much equal personal opinion about christianity as i do islam.

I dont need to pull the plank out my eye because im not one sided. They are equally filthy.

Well, lets see now..
Mohammed said that Gabriel (dictated)(revealed) the Qu'ran personally to him over years.
So, Modern Scholarship says that fragments of Gabriel's Qu`ran, are from before Mohammed was alive.

I love it when chronic liars cant get together to continue to try to prove a religious farce.

There own religion has put them in a trap where they are not allowed to question there faith. If they were, then maybe islamic sxholars would do there history and acturally ask themselves what credibility and witness did mohammad acturally have to verify its authority. His wife was the first to believe he was prophet, go figure. He was also a very depressed man. Go figure.

And dont forget, as the depressed man used to go pray up in a cave for days, the revelations he receieved from an angel were nothing more than thoughts in his mind, remember the godesses he allowed worship until the angel said no that thought come from satan. Everything come from his own revelation and ideas that scared even himself.

James 3:9
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness.
That you call yourself a follower of Christ by definition associates you with other Christians.... Corrupt or not. You don't really have a say in who is your brother... It's never been your choice.

You can no easily separate yourself from Christianity than you can separate yourself from the human race. And I believe this is what James is speaking about

It's not about us and them and that whole tribal mentality. It's a mission of reconciliation, not disassociation through our differences. This my brother is where the log comes in...

Stove. If i judge, i judge in a correct judgement. Im not called to take my hat off and respect false prophets, doctrine and religions. Do you think Jesus would take his hat off to false belief systems be it christian muslim athiest hindu anything?

But dont get me twisted, i believe everyone as human beings are brothers and i do care for the people who are caught in corrupt religion. So im not a hater against any individual person as a human being. If i was then i woukd need take the plank out my eye.

Because its a religion of peace. Thats why the middle east is a killing field of islam vs islam, because its a religion of peace says tony, obama, the pope and so on.

This world would be alot more stable if people stopped following false prophets who were inspired by demons with no witness to give them any credibility.

Paul explained it well in one verse. "test the spirits", that is one verse many people have rejected.

The world just couldnt help itself but boast and not just let the bible rest in peace.

These prophets are thorns.

Amen Brother. Test every single one, every time.

Testing the spirits is a very good thing some times we are sadly surprised by what we see... Some times the clouds are lifted and the Son shines through :)

Test mohammads spirit.

He was a man with mental illness as its noted he was depressed, so in those days depressed could have meant any mental health. These days we recognise mental illness.

Mohammads lifestyle shows he was unhappy and most probably deluded by the how he lived and whats written about him. I think he truely just wanted to be a prophet like Jesus.

His revelations he recieved were voices in his head as he claimed, possible schizophenia, and the accounts he wrote down do not match the torah.

He also needed to correct his delusions when he thought it was ok to worship other godesses until the angel ie his deluded thoughts told him otherwise no there is only one god.

He has no witness for his visions and a place is only "believed" where he accended to heaven on a horse.

Also, i think, could be wrong, his real name is mohammad something allah. His god has the same name as him.

so i been talking to my arab muslim brother from another mother. Hes from afgansistan.

He still has not clicked on what i mean when i say brother from another mother. I guess Ishmael will allways live in the stone age and be addicted to ak's. But we all abrahams Sons.

Anyhow, So he told me he is going for his second wife, he has another in line and has told his wife to ask her friend if she will marry him.

How does a wife ask another woman if she will marry her husband?

So i asked him how many wifes he is allowed, and he said 4.

Im sure islam will run out of woman if every man can have multiple wifes. what was allah thinking?

Oh the glory allah has given man.

What I am saying is simple. don't talk bad about them when they can turn the argument back at us. If you don't like getting painted with the broad brush of Christianity, don't paint all Muslims with the broad brush of Islam

Point in case, Some of them are allowed 4 wives. Jacob had two wives. Polygamy is very well documented in the Bible

But here is a differing view. The bible isn't a bunch of rules that make us better than others. It's a story about misguided people with real struggles, misunderstandings, faults and mistakes. As such, instead of saying, "how sinfull that Muslim has 4 wives", one could say, "we have examples in our bible where the patriarchs had multiple wives...." And open a healthy dialog based on mutual subject.

But it's easier to find the differences in others isn't it? It makes us feel better than them and bolsters our self esteem, and as such, affirms our self worth.

Paul said he was strong when he was weak. Maybe that's because when you realize it's not about being better than others, you find yourself in the situation where you realize you can't change others.... And when you stop trying to force others through arguments and self righteousness, you realize people connect through mutual feelings and experience.

In short, it's not safe to say your wrong when you know self worth is at stake. No, we defend our self worth.... And that's counter productive

Share the story.... Share your weakness.... And you'll connect with your Muslim friend in ways that he will see Christ shining through you

He cant turn the argument back because there prophet has no credibility or witness.

Dont get me wrong stove. I love my muslim brother, we get along well, never had a problem, i tell him sraight up like i tell you, but he cant turn anything back on me because im not involved in any belief system, including false christianity.

I don't think your looking at the whole picture. You can't paint him with a broad stroke of the brush and then expect him to paint you with a narrow stroke of the brush. It doesn't work that way imho. I'm sure there were those in the witch hunts that thought they were doing Gods will, just like Saul when he was killing Christians.

As far as being straight up, I only recal Jesus being straight up with the religious elite aka, we're not like them sinners.... In some ways, I liken some of the Muslims in the same way as the Samaritins. Jesus didn't argue with the woman at the well, but instead he saw what she needed to be healed, and remained focused.

I like what you said, Steve, about how Jesus approached people like the Samaritans. I suggested a thought on a different thread (about Muslims), that I could easily imagine Jesus, if he was preaching on the streets today may well have used a Muslim or a Hindu in place of the Samaritan in his parable about the good Samaritan. Jesus was making an excellent point, that theology aside, what God looks at is the heart. We may know all the right answers, but if that knowledge doesn't get reflected in how we live and treat others, then it's useless. Yet, on the other hand, those who don't know the law, yet practice the law, show they have the law written in their hearts. I find that inspiring.

I also agree with the thoughts about trying to find the common ground with people, as that is a brilliant starting point for building bridges. I feel if we can recognize our own limitations/understanding of truth, that should have a positive effect in our relationships with others, who may believe something contrary to us. It can be very easy for us to point out where others are wrong, but are we open to hearing that we are wrong. It's true there are many belief systems (and each has wheat and the tares amongst them), but I do think it's an error to think that just because we've chosen to be 'outside' of a religious establishment, etc, that we can't fall into the same error as those who are.

If we bring in the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God, is the book of Mormons truth? What about Catholicism?

Hi pie-man
Nice to meet you. BTW, my name is Jeff, not Steve lol. I get that a lot. Stove - Bolts is in reference to my 68 Camaro. It's a pile of Stove Bolts lol. We have a thread a long time ago title'd something like "Steve alert" lol. So your in good company :)

I think the battle is this need to be right and having our self worth dependent on being right. As such, tribal mentatlity sets in. We're right and your wrong. Because if your right, that makes me wrong. And I've got too much riding on being right. Take away my world view, and I'm nothing. It's hard for us to understand that we only plant seeds, and God causes the increase. And God can do that any way he likes and honestly, we get jelous when God treats "them" with mercy. "They" don't deserve mercy.. and do you see what just happened? I'm special, they're not and because they're not, my esteem is bolstered based on what they're not and not in who "I AM". Tribal menatality at it's finest imho.

It's funny almost. Think about this. It's no doubt that the Jews love God. And it's no doubt that the Muslims are doing what they know to "please" God. And isn't it ironic that if it weren't for the Muslims, the Jews would rebuild the Temple... and if the Jews rebuilt the Temple.. well, I think you see where this may be going. All things work to the Good for those who Love Christ Jesus. All things? like as in ALL THINGS? If this is true, then All things also means what the Muslims are doing. Now that's a hard one to take in for some huh?

If we bring in the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God, is the book of Mormons truth? What about Catholicism?
John 18:38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.

Did Pilate speak truth? Did he know the truth?
You will find truth in every nook and cranny. You see, truth is like light. Light is created. Nowhere in scripture do you find darkness created. In short, God creates because God is good. Light pierced through the darkness because darkness is nothingness. Darkness is nothing more than the absence of light.
Why then do we fight the darkness for what it is? There is no creation in darkness, and people love the darkness. You see, it's easier to point out faults and wrongs. But it's hard to find the truth in others because to do so, we have to admit the darkness in our own lives.

So, instead of blaming the darkness for being dark, why not ask why the light isn't shinning as bright as it could? In other words, what's wrong is wrong and we can clearly state that which is wrong. But let us not throw away the baby with the bath water. Paul uses what people know and undersand to be truth, and he grows that truth. That takes patience, understanding and acceptance. But most of all, it takes faith... Because just like the death of Jesus, God was doing something bigger than anyone ever could understand at that time. Peter cut the ear off a soldier and they thought Jesus was dead. It was "finished" meant the ride was over. Peter went back to fishing and the apostles went back to their trades.... But did God ever surprise them. We should learn something from this... When the world teaches us something, we ought to have faith that God is doing something bigger.

Dan,
Good day, mate. Stove is missing what I see in you. Unlike you I am associated with both the Southern Baptists and the Missionary Baptists Associations. And because I teach man to damn the religions of Christianity, as well as Islam and all the others, and to, instead, walk with God, hand in Hand, I bump heads a lot with folks like StoveBolts. I've been reading your posts for some time now and what I have observed is a servant seeking an, ever, closer relationship with his God.

I would, also, from this string understand that you are already relating, quite, well with your Muslim associate. Now, it looks like God has given you a ministry and it looks like you are fulfilling what God has set before you and I say, "Praise God!" If I had listened to some Deacons and other Church Leaders, the mp3 file in the Lounge would not be there. And if I further paid attention to them and ignored what I feel God leading me to do, I would have, ?possibly? made a good deal more money or/and a lot of people would still be placing the torn halves of pictures of their loved ones together and remembering what they looked like before the photo was torn or water stained or otherwise damaged. But over the years, praise God, my family and I have never wanted for long and their pics have been repaired and because of my wife they are married in beautifully decorated Churches and because of my daughter they have hundreds of dollars Wedding Cakes, all free of charge.

We are not a religious bunch, even though all three of us are teachers of the Gospel of God. We all love to teach others the love of God and we all have been run out of Church by Religious Zealots, go figure, huh? I just want to encourage you to keep the walk going and keep witnessing, God will use what God will use.

Ad may God bless you and yours.
