I know I'm gonna get some groans and moans but is anyone else itching for the Christmas season? I'm looking forward to the first snowfall, winter scented candles, and cookies cakes and pies!! Wheeeeee!

Doggone it I forgot to add a poll!
Okay the question is: "Are you ready for Christmas?"
Answer choices:
"Let it snow let it snow let it snoooow!"
BAH HUMBUG!
I prefer festivus...for the rest of us!

Im ready for the thanksgiving and xmas foods like pumpkin pie and pecan pie and someone always makes punch every year and oh...my ...goodness I love punch lol

Christmas yes, it's big doin's at our house, no snow, it's summertime, the flamboyant trees will be in full bloom, ...the Lord's Christmas trees for us.

I think its something I was raised with for a purpose....its like almost everyone around me since I was a kid has been negative, hard to please etc and it taught me to hold my ground and not give up my heart so to speak.Im even stronger for it....its still annoying lol but Im stronger and my boundaries are very much in tact.

I'll save us all the trouble....

"Is it okay to observe Christmas?"

"Yes."

"No, it's not."

"Yes it is."

"No it's not."

:lol

But seriously, I love Christmas, but I usually ruin it by getting anxious for it.

Couldn't have said it any better. :lol You have this place pegged.
Yeah, I think us scrooges like myself have made our points well known over the years, but we still jab every once in awhile, but I won't keep harping on it like I once did. While the rest of the family likes the holiday, I just sort of tag along and see it as a secular one with a bunch of merriment no different to me than the 4th of July. I personally keep Christ out of it in my thinking. And while others are trying to find a way to put Christ back into Christmas, that makes as much sense to me as saying we have to put Putin back into the White House again. It ranks alongside with Halloween in origin.

I'm greatly looking forward to Christmas! I like choosing gifts for people, I like the aesthetics of the season more than any other (I could deal with a lighted tree in my house all year long), and I like to, in my quiet time, meditate upon the birth of Jesus. Plus egg nog. I absolutely love egg nog.

YES! EGGNOG! Why don't they sell it all year long???

Absolutely... 100% right, my friends. Although I am glad it isn't sold all year for one reason: So I can shake off the holiday weight. Goodness knows I'd have no chance with a steady supply of the nog.

Yes.... eggs, sugar, milk, heavy cream, whisky & rum. That's obviously the full egg nog.
For a non-alcoholic egg nog, don't add the whisky & rum.

I never knew eggnog had alcohol in it. Thought drinkers just added it, like you add rum to coke. I guess because the only kind I ever bought came from the store and had no alcohol.

For the non-alcoholic egg nog:

Take a half dozen eggs....separate the whites from the yolks and place in separate bowls. With electric beater, beat the whites until firm ... add 1/4 cup of granulated sugar ... beat until very stiff. Using same beaters, whip up the yolks with 1/2 cup granulated sugar until a light yellow color & thoroughly blended. Fold whites into yolks before adding 2 cups (1 pint) milk and 2 cups (1 pint) heavy cream. You can dust the top with nutmeg if desired.

You can serve it up then & there ... but it is great when it's chilled a bit.

Egg nog can be made up with or without. Most grocery stores will carry the 'without' in their dairy section, and the 'with' in their alcohol section.
