Opps, thread title was suppose to be something about Jesus baptism but I seemed to have posted when it hit the letter J this device plays up sometimes. So the thread title is now J. A Mod can change it to what they want that suits if they want. Anyhow.

How do these connect?

"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

"For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

I can only guess there is sometimes time gaps between sentences. Peter talks about a past event where the voice come from heaven saying" this is my Son whom I am well pleased", yet he was on a mountain, or, in the Holy mount, depending on what version people read, with Jesus at the time the voice come. Yet the other scriptures seem to suggest it was with John when he was baptized in the jordan. That was before Peter was even a diciple.

The only way it can possiblly make sense without a false prophet writting Peter or Matthew or corrupt scripture is that the voice had to have come at a time well after Jesus baptism, or, God said "this is my Son whom I am well pleased" twice, but that doesn't really have much credibility.

Can you post the scriptures you are referring to?

II Peter 1:17 KJV
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

For the father to say (this is my beloved Son .....)., Does not require a baptismal service.

The Father can and did say this on the mount of transfiguration and at baptism of Jesus.

There is no conflict unless:
1. You only have the statement at transfigurations.
2. You only have the statement at baptisms.

Oh yea, I didnt see the other scripture where it is noted God said "this is my Son whom I am well pleased" while on the mountain in Matt 17. I thought the only reference was at the baptism that would have changed everything completly. My wrong.

Thats how easy it is to completly get things wrong. Now I stand corrected.
