for the record, did i ever say eternal security pushers are false prophets?

You didn't, so don't take offense.

I just thought it was interesting that something like that would be a part of a discussion about whether someone's end times beliefs and him being a prophet were right or not. I just scanned the article but it seems the author in the article about Van Impe talks more about his other beliefs than what he actually believes about the end times and him being a true prophet or not.

I'm waiting to see how long we can talk about him before we actually examine his teachings about the end times, lol.

Because I don't take this thread very seriously. Not yet anyway, lol.

We get our undies in a bunch over some things that we should not. In this case, even if Van Impe is wrong, his agenda seems to be nothing more or less than just sharing the gospel. He has often led impassioned prayers for people to receive Christ and be born again. As far as I know he's not telling people to send him all their money and then move to the mountains and live in a slat board cabin and eat berries and drink out of the local stream until Christ returns. It does really just seem to be an honest opinion about what's happening in the world today. Granted, I haven't heard any of his sermons in about a year or two. And only a few before that. Hey, he's from Michigan. What could be wrong with dat?

Misleading people in the name of Christ is wrong and not the sort of thing to be winked at.

Imp has for decades pretended to know from and support with his personal knowledge of scripture a special understanding and knowledge of the near future. Impe has for decades been proven wrong over and over. This is especially heinous when Impe combines in a sentence his doctrine and a carefully selected bit of scripture, not given as support but as though the two were one. Something he has developed into an art . His style and manner are polished to seem as though all points to 'thus saith the Lord' in his broadcasts and so he carries the liability that comes with it. Tell me have you ever heard him say---" well that just my opinion folks take it or leave it?" I'll wager you have not,because Jack's style is to say such and such an event is a fulfillment of such and such prophecy and then declare that' ITS ALREADY ON THE TABLE' oh God's word is coming true before our eyes or some such nonsense.
When a TV car salesman repeatedly practices bait&switch tactics he is eventually criminally prosecuted. When a TV preacher does the same thing people who should know better excuse the behavior . An action dimming the glory of Christ among men. And yes that will ,in some cases ,lead to damnation.

I figured you didnt really think Jack is honest. But then the real prophets of old werent loved until long after their voilent deaths.

It isn't that he's claiming special knowledge from the scriptures. He claims to know how the present world fits into what is probably his very accurate understanding of scripture.

Then perhaps you can explain why he's always wrong?

Mr. Camping, on the other hand, if I'm not mistaken, did not even have an accurate grasp on scripture to begin with. That is the main thing that distinguishes the two in my mind.

It's stupid of him to stick his neck out like this, but a false prophet? I think this is a perfect example of what I added to my other post about pride.

People who are good at something get puffed up and think their opinions and ideas are special and purposely given to them to share with the world. We see this in both the world and the church--actors who are suddenly experts in global social and economic issues because they're good actors, and people who know the Bible very well, or teach well, or have led many to Christ suddenly thinking they have a hot line of wisdom from God about all things.

I am very familiar with the mindset of the miraculous, and the churches that endorse it, that many of these people on TV have. What I've learned is when the intent is to purposely lead you into sin and disobedience and away from God that is when you need to start entertaining the 'false prophet' label as that is understood in the OT. Outside of that you are certainly free to pay money to hear people's opinions about things even if they themselves are sure it is the Holy Spirit showing them these things. Truthfully, I don't think being honestly wrong about hearing from God is categorically, in every single instance, the equivalent of being a false prophet. There are lots and lots of people on and off TV, even in this forum, who are sharing what they are sure is truth but which is only their firm (but wrong) convictions about things. Are they all to be called false prophets? Really? That's a bit over the top if you ask me.

Not over the top when the purpose is make a PROFIT. The street preacher talking & walking his heart out because he believes God has led him. Sure he make mistakes says some stuff falsely is wrong on occasion but his treasure is where his heart is. As is Van Impe's and he has lots of company

Did you know he is actually one of the lower paid mega ministry leaders? It's still a lot compared to the working man's wages, but not for a CEO of a company.

We know what the money changers were doing in Jesus day...and what some sinister ministers are doing today, but it is still okay for ministers of the gospel to make their living from the gospel.

I'm very hesitant to do that because I still think about the $100.00 donation I gave to get Pat Robertson's book 'The New World Order' about twenty years ago (I think that was the name of it). I kind of felt ripped off and eventually gave the book away to a church library, but I knew completely what I was doing--making a donation to a ministry and getting a book as a gift full of Pat Robertson's perspectives about the coming world order. I respected his insights and wasn't thinking I was getting a book written directly from God to mankind through Pat Robertson.

One things for sure. We're all entitled to discern the motives of any teacher and can decide for ourselves if we will support them and buy their materials. I'm very hesitant to do that because I still think about the $100.00 donation I gave to get Pat Robertson's book 'The New World Order' about twenty years ago (I think that was the name of it). When these guys play on the fears/emotions of old folks to become million airs once again ones heart is where their treasure is.
