I know that sometimes this has been discussed, about being able to recognize Jesus in the OT. Some believe it, some don't...personally, I do.

The blue letter bible is a great tool for looking up words of scripture. I've used it for quite some time now...

I looked up Joshua just now. In Hebrew (3091) Joshua means Yehowshua...
I didn't realize that for a long time! Wow. So much for Jesus being in the OT, eh?

Did you know that? That is so cool. Might as well call it the Book of Yehowshua!
:study

He's all over the OT!

Well I don't know about Jesus personally being in the Old Testament, but there are certainly references or rather foreshadowing of Him going on for sure.

Well He created the world so He was around back then. Many foreshadowings are in the OT also.

Could the book of Joshua be a foreshadowing or a model for...Revelation?

Umm,.. God created Jesus so how can you say that Jesus was the one who created the world? That was the work of the Father not the Son.

To answer your question look at John 1:1-18

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testifyconcerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God,but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

Thank you. Very thorough.

(You're in Colorado?! Awww. I wish I still was!)

I think Jesus maybe is missing a hua. Lol.

Jesushua or maybe its Jeshua.

I think if one was to be language correct he would have been refered to as Yeshua or Yeshowshua or what the Hebrew or Aramaic is.

Sometimes! One that I know you read about was Melchizedek. What was going on there?

I meant that Jesus didn't appear as a human in the OT because He wasn't even born yet. He's certainly there in other ways for sure and I'm pretty sure that Edward knew that's what I meant.

Nope. You've got more reading to do to get through the NT, I can tell

If you're talking about when Jesus is telling His followers that if you have seen me you have seen the Father, or the Word became flesh then I still consider that to mean that Jesus comes from God and He is the Son of God, but He still isn't God (the Father) Himself. That's what I was taught in Sunday school as a child and that's what I believe.

Yes I did Brother.

Jesus made the statement, I go to my God and your God...

Off to job interviews...

Exactly, so how could Jesus say that He was going to God if He was God? And I'm a girl by the way so that makes me a sister not a brother. :)
