It takes all of the Bible from Genesis to Jude to understand the literal and symbolic in the book of Revelation and I have been studying this for over thirty years
This above statement you wrote is in reference to a response th1b.taylor made. Are you politely saying that if he would study his bible he could know God as well as you? :)
No, I would never say that to anyone. That would be very rude of me and certainly would bring no glory to God. What I was saying is that Revelations involves many scriptures from Genesis to Jude to have Revelations unveiled to us. Bill is very knowledgeable with the scriptures even though we might not always agree.
Just having fun with you dear Sister for_his_glory. I don't agree with you either, but still love you. :hug
When are you going to tell me who Jesus' angel is, and we may close the separation?

parable maybe but it never starts out using the word parable another word for hell ---
Gehenna

(originally Ge bene Hinnom; i.e., "the valley of the sons of Hinnom"), a deep, narrow glen to the south of Jerusalem, where the idolatrous Jews offered their children in sacrifice to Molech ( 2 Chronicles 28:3 ; 33:6 ; Jeremiah 7:31 ; 19:2-6 ). This valley afterwards became the common receptacle for all the refuse of the city. Here the dead bodies of animals and of criminals, and all kinds of filth, were cast and consumed by fire kept always burning. It thus in process of time became the image of the place of everlasting destruction. In this sense it is used by our Lord in Matthew 5:22 Matthew 5:29Matthew 5:30 ; 10:28 ; 18:9 ; Matthew 23:15 Matthew 23:33 ; Mark 9:43 Mark 9:45 Mark 9:47 ; Luke 12:5 . In these passages, and also in James 3:6 , the word is uniformly rendered "hell," the Revised Version placing "Gehenna" in the margin. (See HELL; HINNOM .)
the torment was real parable or no parable they are used to make a point and the point is the rich man trusted in his wealth instead of Christ .the Jews prided them self with riches .paul wrote the Love of money is the root of all evil.. we can see the evil of loving money men use it as power

I have the same study on Gehenna. I agree that the parables are used to make a point of what Christ was trying to teach the disciples by using them as an example.

Matthew 5:29, 30; Mark 9:43-48 Jesus uses the prophetic symbolic of Gehenna as calling it hell or fires of hell meaning the grave/pit where many were burned to death there as the worm did not die there, meaning that there were always new maggots going through their life-cycles, feeding on the dead corpse. Also note Isaiah 66:24.

:nono naughty boy :lol :hug

It says it is His angel and since angels are messengers of God this angel would be the messenger Christ sent to John.

The lake of fire is not death, but a place of eternal punishment as described in these scriptures
Being cast into the lake of fire is called "the second death."
Rev 20:4
Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 21:8
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

Very good. Now do you remember what the angel says of himself?
Rev 1:17 I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Uh oh, you are quoting Jesus, and not His angel. Jesus is the one in Rev 1:18 that says: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. What do you think? :)

My brother in Christ, thank you for adding Rev 21:8 as I missed that as I see now I was wrong in the way I said that death and hell were the second death. It was how I was reading it that seemed to say it was. I have deleted my post # 201. :)

I think we are getting off topic, but will answer.
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John

vs 4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; vs. 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Angel speaking greetings from Christ to John

vs 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
vs 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book,

Christ is proclaiming who he is speaking through the angel as John only hears the voice of this angel for now

vs 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
vs 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Here John finally sees the angel as this angel is like unto the Son of man and then goes on to describe Christ within this angel as the angel is only the voice of Christ that appears to John

luke 16 the rich man

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
he then wanted to have somebody from the dead go warn his family ..certainly hell is not a pretty place nor is it the eternal lake of fire .

i dont find Christians in hell . i do see Christians in some type sleep with Christ.. till the Resurrection of the saints..i also will confess there many things about when exactly we go to heaven.. paul did write to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord :bible
Amen!

And thank you for demonstrating Christian humility so well!
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." (I believe that is the restored earth after His return.)

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
i have read some time back this brimstone is a sulfur that keeps burning . while i have never preached on hell for a subject i have mentioned . folks need to be made aware of the results of not having eternal life . when the Lost stand before the white throne judgment .this is the last thing they will hear depart from me.
i have a bro who is a minister also he went and talked to a elderly man about Jesus. the man told him he use to go to church use to attend revivals and rejected the calling of the Lord. he words was i no longer hear that Voice . how sad it would be to no longer hear God and know he was speaking to your heart ..the old hymn rescue the perishing care for the dying . we have to reach out in Love

It could be that God was still calling him, but he became deaf to Gods call as many do. I couldn't even imagine life without God because I know if I would have turned a deaf ear I would have killed myself many years ago...................Praise you Jesus for never giving up on me even though I walked away many times. :pray
