“Just Sit Back And Soak It In”

Psalm 27:1 NIV
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

There are a lot of times in life where we like to kick back, put up our feet, and just soak in the environment around us. Sometimes, we even like to close our eyes as well. When we’re at the movies, at the beach, on our porch or back deck, sitting on our couch or recliner at home or sitting at the park somewhere. These and other places we have all found ourselves and enjoyed the time of just sitting back, being still and soaking in the sun and the sounds around us or the music we’re listening to.

There is just something about chilling out, being still and taking in the beauty of the moment God has given to us. We all enjoy these moments, but all too often we get so busy with life that we don’t have these moments as often as we’d like. Some of my favorite times at home is when I sit back on the couch, recline and just relax. I try to let go of the concerns and worries of life and just enjoy being still. When I can actually relax, it feels so good and I don’t want to move or get up.

There’s something about this passage that just relaxes me. Perhaps because it reminds me of a song by Eden’s Bridge. Look it up when you get a chance. Very soothing and inspiring! Sometimes, we just need a scenery, a nice breeze, or a perfect song that helps us to soak in the life and surroundings around us. It can remind us of how amazing God is and the peace He brings.

I want to encourage all of us to sit back, relax and just let the words of this passage soothe us and remind us that God is our light and our salvation. Most importantly, there is absolutely nothing to fear because He is the stronghold of our lives. Isn’t that simply amazing?

Sometimes, we just need to turn off the noise and chaos of the world around us and take Him all in. God loves it when we take the time to just do nothing in His presence but to enjoy Him and His creation all around us. For those of you who like being in the wilderness or camping, you know the peace of hearing birds and insects make their noise and the calming of being in that environment. Something about nature can just bring peace and calming to us. God’s precious Creation can soothe us.

Find a time and place this week, wherever it might be, and just sit back, relax and take Him in however you can. Let Him soothe your soul by remembering that He is your light, salvation and stronghold.

Agree with you so much. I used to love to go to the woods and sit by a tree and a stream. I'd listen to the stream rippling and the birds singing. Watch the insects flying and if I was lucky I'd see a Fox squirrel or mouse. What a wonderful creator God is.
I don't get chance to do that now so I nip into the summer house in the back garden and listen to the birds (who often fly down to say hello). I watch the butterflies, bees, frogs and the stray cats I feed. It is so relaxing. Then I look up into the sky and meditate and talk to God. My very favourite times. Thanks for the lovely post hidude.

I have 14 acres behind my house that's zoned "conservancy," meaning no one can ever build on it. Deer and red fox are my neighbors, not to mention the coyotes, raccoons, opossum, weasels and Chipmunks. Wild Turkeys in such abundance they're actually a nuisance, eating desirable plants and changing the ecosystem, helping invasive plants that they can't eat to take over.

Which state are you from again? Aside from the weasels I pretty much have everything that you have.

I'm in WI, the Badger State. Today I saw a ground hog! It's been a while since I've seen a badger though.

How often do you have deer in your backyard, that stare at you like you don't belong there? Turkeys that don't see why they should get out of the road, just because you're driving right at them; sometimes flocking 20 and 30 at a time?

Wildlife has made a stellar recovery!

Well I just had a doe and twin fawns out in my backyard. :)

When I'm home, which is pretty much everyday since I no longer work, most of my days are spent in here as I love sharing the word of God. I live in the country and my yard is like a bird sanctuary with so many different kinds. I love hearing them chirping. It's odd, but we really do not get much wildlife in the yard. I do have four rabbits that that round around and even named them, LOL. I have Harriet and Edna the adults, Georgie and Porgie the babies (so cute). Sometimes when I'm out in the yard I talk to Harriet and she just sits there and stares at me like she is listening. Not sure what gender all of them are, but might need to change Edna's name, LOL.

My favorite place to relax and doing nothing is at our camp. I sit on the deck in the morning having my coffee before hubby wakes up. The sounds of nature surround me and watching the river flow in front of our camp is so relaxing. Sometimes I get to see the Eagle fly by on it's journey of the morning. When I sit there taking it all in and reflecting on God and what He has given us in His creation nothing else matters in my little corner of the world. I just take everything a day ata time and never worry for tomorrow as tomorrow may never come.
