In 1 Corinthians 11 Paul addresses hair length. "Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God." (1 Corinthians 11:13-16)

Two things are important in this passage. First, he never defines how long is long, other than earlier saying that it is a shame for her to have her hair all cut off. Second, the last verse of the passage says that if anyone thinks he has been talking about hair length as a rule, rather than talking about authority, then they need to understand that the church has no rules on hair length, for men or women.

I say...it's up to a woman to chose glory.

Most men prefer long hair. Women weigh that with the trouble of having long hair, which is why it's so rare to see a woman over 50 with long hair, looks are no longer as much a priority. It's sad that the Bible takes such a small role in the decision.

Is that your assumtion Jack? That people do not take the bible into consideration?
In this matter, it's my observation. The Bible does say that it's better for a woman to have long hair. Try finding some place where you can watch people go by, like a mall or a busy store, and see what percentage of women that look over 50 have long hair. Do the same thing at your church (unless of course you go to a Holiness Pentacostal Church) and you'll see more or less the same trend.

It's the 'fro phenomenon. They hit a certain age and poof, their hair goes up. j/k

I think most women do it so because they do find it more attractive at a certain age.

Not sure it's a Biblical issue either...think it's more a discussion of style or preference.

Long hair looks better on most girls in my opinion...long curly wild perms to the shoulders are my favorite. Most of the females I find cute rarely have short hair, but some can pull it off very well. My wife had shorter hair when we were first married but now she has much longer hair and she looks even more radiantly beautiful.

I know once you get past the shoulders, it's a lot harder to manage and takes forever to dry/deal with, especially if you have to be at work. And occupation/age is a big determination of how hair is. Or how much time you have to mess with it.

I guess I would have to say that I don't like real long hair (mid back to almost waist level). Although I must say its not a big concern.

The honest ones will admit that it's because long hair take more time to do in the morning. In this case, form follows function.

Define your idea of long and short. I'm guessing medium is shoulder length, or thereabouts.
Personally I would say short is above the collar, medium is below to collar to almost to the shoulder blades, long would be below the shoulder blades. Cool is to the waist or longer :)

many older women have short hair because it makes them look younger

I wouldn't vote because some women suit very long hair, whereas others suit shorter hair. Then there are those women that have lost their hair and are kinda cute being bald.

There's nothing more tramatizing than when you're wife's hair is nice and long and pretty and she comes home with it all cut off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
