Good morning I just thought I would express something as im still kinda new but this place is really great so Id like to contribute.Im getting older and my body is slowing down so about 8 yrs ago I started lifting weights to accelerate my metabolism as I really started gaing weight and its working great. When im not lifting I just don't feel normal its like my cup of coffee in the morning. I think everybody thats past the age of youth hormonal development can benifit from it.Even the elderly, you just have to be informed on safety and practice that knowledge.God Bless

Sounds good. Maybe lifting for you increases the ol' endomorphines and that gives you the good feeling, the "cuppa Joe" and helps burn fat. Also remember to keep yourself well nourished as exercise is a resource depleter on the body (like any stress) and takes energy to keep yourself going. After all, the endomorphines have to come from somewhere --- i.e., the nourishment you take in, so the more used the more nourishment needed.

Also, in your case, it helps and you feel better-- so continue on! There's some people more prone to an exercise personality. For example, when I see a more-or less normal weighted person jogging, more times than not they just have an "on the go" personality (these are the ones that jog in the dark and bad weather) because they really love it. Then I see a tubby lady jogging and can't help but to think that the doctor poked her in the tummy, warned of her high BP and cholesterol, and she exhausts herself into the ground doing this because she says to herself, "I hafta do it" rather than actually liking it ("I don't wanna do it"). Usually it's a phase and they don't continue. Some people are naturally sedentary and are cut out for more moderate exercise enough to get the blood flowing. In their case, a more difficult routine is not really beneficial and I would stick my neck out to actually say such exercise is downright dangerous.

I fully agree with you tim.Anytime a person gets involved in physical fitness they have to be aware of their limitations for their safety.Although ive been ridinga bike for my only mode of transportation since I was a kid I started lifting later Iin life (32 yrs). I didn't take my age and ignorance into consideration so I did damage to my shoulder, elbow, and knee that i'll be living with for life. I seem to keep injuring myself. There are extreme cases about what you are talking about that people can see for themselves in Oprah Winfrey struggled with weight loss for decades because she was doing it for the world not for herself I remember she'd come out on stage and the first thing she'd do is address her progress or lack of for the audiences response. The result of that was failure. A very sad example of exceeding your limitations is James Gandolfini who pushed his self so hard he had a heart attack. Thanks God Bless
