Being on dial up I can't view the slide show, but many perceive Jesus to be mean because they can not get their own way or when bad things happen in their lives He is the first one they blame saying Jesus must hate me.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

I ran across a book years ago entitled, Sophia Beastie, while browsing for religious materials on Amazon. The premise of that book was like the 1st Jesus in that link. Predicated on the old and new testament it proposed that the OT God was a demiurge, a different lesser being let to wreak havoc on the world. Which is why all the scriptures about how mean he was.
Then he was put away somehow and the NT God appeared as the exact opposite. Benevolent, loving, forgiving, saving the world.

It's not surprise in today's world that people will craft what they prefer that fits their needs. We're seeing the same kind of concessionary objective occurring in the laws of this land. Forced tolerance for more and more ridiculous things. Except of course there is little tolerance for those who make that observation and make it public. Then there's hell to pay. One good thing about that , turning lemons into lemonade, it stands to inspire those type to become their own boss in their own sole proprietor business. God bless them.

I found it helpful to do a lil self-check. I found that my "Jesus" had elements of some of the false Christs in the slideshow, so that helped me see where I'm at in terms of understanding The Lord.

Before I got saved, in my teen years, I was interested in The Nag Hammadi, gnosticism, Jung, etc. Oh man...what a horrible waste of time. Oh well. Thing is...now, that's the way the whole world seems to be going, for whatever reason(s). Not good, not good at all...

I like that link. Overall it is a more practical one for Christians than ones which focus theological differences between pseudoChristian religions and biblical Christianity.

I can recognize at times I have looked at God from my legalistic Roman Catholic upbringing, certain difficult life events where I questioned God's love/ involvement in my life and tried to bargain with God.
