I'm still having a terrible time with having to keep logging in after I've been away from the computer for lets say 45 minutes or a little longer. Sometimes I don't realize that I've not been on and I'm really logged out, I post something and because I haven't logged back in, a rather lengthy post is lost.

Please, Rick tried to help me of which I appreciate. I even created a cookie culler which doesn't help because the expiration time is the same day.

Please, is there someone who can solve this problem. I've have uninstalled fire fox, started a new CF.net in the new Fire Fox, nothing that I've done works. If I put CF.net on IE, it works just fine except there are problems with that one. I've tried Google Chrome, same results as IE. Fire Fox is the only browser that gives me what I want except the log in mess.

I believe what messed it up was I accidentally hit the home button instead of the forum button and from then on I've had this problem....HELP?

Not sure what is causing the time outs on your end, but one way you can sort of work around having your posts lost is to copy it before hitting the "post reply" button. That way if you are logged out suddenly all you have to do is open a new reply and paste what you just copied.

Thank you. I knew that I could do that, I just didn't think of doing it. Thank you, I'll do that next time I'm not sure.

Also, a quick way to make sure you are still logged in is to refresh the page your on then look at the top of the screen where your login ID should be. If it does appear you know you need to log back in.

Incidentally, is this only happening in one kind of browser, or is it happening in any browser you are using?

The reason I ask, is one browser may start acting funky, but you won't know unless you open up a different one and try the same thing.

I don't usually recommend it, but you can use IE for this reason. Just to make sure whatever browser you are using is not the issue. Personally, I use chrome, which is not without its periodic issues, so you can also download firefox or just use IE to help diagnose the problem.

I guess you missed what I have already said. Fire Fox is the only browser that this is happening in. The others don't give me the log in problems but they have problems that I don't like like spell check. I like IE but cannot get a spell check that works.

I have just opened up CF.net in IE. I didn't even have to log in, it already has me logged in....The only problem is a spell check. Do you know of a spell check that will work with IE? Presently, I am using ieSpell by Red Egg Software but it only works early in the mornings. After that it says it can't, try later.

There's an option on the log-in page, right next to the log-in button that says: "Keep me logged in". Check the box and hit the log-in button. You are now logged in forever. So whether you're gone for 3 hours or 3 weeks, when you come back you're still logged in.

Give it a whirl. :yes

Have to tried the Pale Moon browser, its practically identical to Firefox but may behave differently with your situation.. i was going to guess it might be the amount of RAM on your machine but if the other browsers work? :confused

Thanks everyone I finally got everything worked out. I got rid of Fire Fox because of my log in problems that were only with that Browser. I went back to IE and found a new Spell check that I'd never seen before. It's called Speckie. It downloaded with no problems and did not have a bunch of sites riding on it. So far I'm delighted! NO PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!
