Hi everyone

I have been slumping in my faith the past several days believing that God is not going to help me and my situation and all that I have been praying for. I've gone as far as to look up witchcraft and things of that nature. I know it's wrong. I just feel like im at my wits end. Please pray for me to get back on track in my faith in God and the Bible. I never really stopped believing; I just stopped believing it working in my life. Pray for me.
Thanks

Saving faith is not of man; it is from God Almighty. It is a spiritual gift and therefor must be spiritually maintained. You need stable and consistent faith. What kind of devotional/renewal/spiritual maintenance program do you have in place? There are many spiritual weapons/tools that must be brought to bear for your saving faith to be maintained. They are available to you; you just must be aware of them and know how to apply them.

Here is one such weapon: The knowledge that our faith cannot be maintained through sheer will power, for it is founded on the Holy Spirit.

Our faith is "saving-faith." As such, it must be something that does not originate with "self." In other words, it is not of the natural; for if it was, then our salvation would be of that which is natural and we would be our own saviors. Therefore, it must be of the supernatural, namely, from God Almighty Himself (Heb. 12:2; Rom.12:3; 1Co. 12:9; 2Pet. 1:1). As such, it must be something that is given to us by God; it must be something that we can ask God for on a daily basis (Luk 22:32).

Everyday, as I start out my day, I ask the Lord to give me the faith I need to abide in His will for that day and to accomplish what he wants me to accomplish that day. I take comfort in this, knowing that I don't have to struggle with trying to generate the saving-faith I need to overcome on any given day or any problem, or to receive whatever promise of God I am expecting. This has been a practice that Has greatly helped me through many tough times and discouraging thoughts. Hope this helps.

Remember, you will open the door to bondage by getting involved in witchcraft or other occult practices. You are accountable to the Truth that has been revealed to you so far. (John 12:48;15:22; James 4:17; Amos 3:2).

Do you understand the significance of Mark 9:23-26 as pertains to how are we gain acceptable faith? That man also was struggling with his faith. How do you believe he received an answer to his situation when he confessed to be struggling with his faith?

Read the passage and then respond please.

God gave him the faith to believe once he asked?

If the man continued to surrender his deficiency to God, then yes, the man's faith would have continued to mature. But that is not the main lesson to be learned here. That main lesson is the fact that Jesus definitely set a condition upon His answering the man's request in his hour of great need. That condition was possessing faith. But the man confessed to being at least partially lacking in his faith as pertains to his son's deliverance. However, the man did posses full faith pertaining to another situation; namely, he had full (acceptable faith) that if he surrendered his deficient faith (as pertains to his sons's healing) to Jesus, then Jesus would take care of any "un-faith". Do you see? The man did have faith; faith that Christ is faithful in overcoming any "un-faith" the man was struggling with pertaining to his son.

It took faith in Christ for the man to surrender his un-faith (or lack of faith pertaining to his son) to Jesus.

Jesus set the condition for the deliverance; He delivered the son; therefore the condition was met.

(Jesus did not deliver the son just for the son and his father's sake, the deliverance also came for the sake of those gathering around the man (Mark 9:25). Christ wanted to bring glory to God through this event, just as He wants your life to glorify God and the Gospel.)

But we must understand that it is God's will for our faith to continue to mature (2 Peter 1:5) through other means once the foundation for such continued maturity is met. Surrendering our lack of faith to Christ is but the beginning. When we surrender our deficiency to Christ, he will then supply us with other knowledge concerning the means to grow and stabilize our faith to provide for greater consistency and assurance. Surrender is just the first step; the foundation of such continuing maturity. For example, if you do not come to fully understand the nature and purpose of God's written Word, then you will have future trouble with your faith. Therefore, the Lord will give you this knowledge so that your faith will mature as you are conformed to the image of Christ-likeness. Deficiencies are overcome; but we must surrender all such deficiencies. This is epitomized in how we first approached Christ: we surrendered our souls to him. And if you have all faith in believing that your sins were forgiven, and you trusted Christ with your greatest possession--your soul--then much more can you trust him with any deficiency in your faith pertaining to you current life situation and concerns. If God is faithful to preform the greater, then much more is He faithful to perform the lesser.

I am here for your edification. Stand firm in the faith delivered to you. This life's sorrows are incomparable to the everlasting glory awaiting you. Do not subject yourself to the elements of the world. If you abandon faith in Christ, then your alternative is faith in other things; for man/woman cannot live this life without putting extreme faith in either God, Satan, or man. You know what to choose.

Sorry for not providing all relevant scripture.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. It's definitely given me an understanding that I didn't have before. I think I was looking at things the wrong way.

Have you been helped? That is great news.

You exercised what faith you had in posting an acknowledgement of your need for help. You have gained certain needed knowledge. That confirms the content of my reply. Namely, that there is help for our weaknesses and deficiencies by exercising what faith we do have. All glory be to the Lord Jesus, now and forever.
