Awesome, I've never heard of that before. Ten stars (and cheers) for Caroline for an excellent suggestion!

    That shouldn't be necessary.

Sometimes you need to go into AdBlocker's preferences to manually put in sites or directories in sites. But it should work automatically. Just go into Tools > Add-ons and see if the Adblocker is enabled.

*sigh* This is why I don't like living on this Earth. I see ads all the time on wiki-articles, news articles, youtube, etc... that I don't like. They aren't anything BAD by normal standards, but they are crossing the line INTENTIONALLY sometimes (ads with girl cleavage showing for example).

I don't really like Lady Gaga. She has some catchy music sometimes but she's so... ...ugh.

The best way to put it is that one time I was dumb enough to watch her new music video "Telephone".

Before the song ever started, just at the BEGINNING, I had to close out and I was about to vomit.

On a good note, a friend of mine (who isn't Christian) called me prude because of that, and that made me feel good because to me, that was a WWJD moment.

I know how ads work, but I wish all sites had the ability to regulate ads you see like Facebook or something.

you wouldn't be without firefox and adblock plus. Thank heavens for open source software I cant remember seing ads anymore much. There is another christian forum you badly need it for its a blue one of memory. That and facebook need it. there is a setting for updating your adblock with some server to update your libray of lockable ads.

Ad Blocker: Ad Muncher will wipe out ads good too

I prefer the old forum. No intrusive or offensive ads.
I think its a cop out to say the owner has no control over their own web site.
This site can censor posts and delete them.
But it can't stop pornographics ads being shown?
Then perhaps don't have any at all just like it was before.

I'd be happy to pay a subscription rather than have these ads shown if the issue is to do with money.
Sure I can get the Adblock plugin but there is more to it than that.
This is supposed to be a Christian web site.
When new people come to this site, they see ads that show women in sexy poses, cleavage showing, ads that encourage cheating on your spouse (eg. flirt.com).
What kind of messages are you sending to the public - both christian and non-christian?
I find this site now completely at odds with the Christian teaching.

I agree - I don't like many of the ads that are shown here. The bottom line is that the owner has to allow ads to make money or at least cover the cost of hosting the webstie. The old site's forum software (phpbb) was free, however this software (vBulletin) is a paid software.
There was a feature with the old site where you could pay a subscription and not see any ads, however the donation page is having issues at the moment.

If I was you, I would take this up with the site owner GregHead personally. If these words come from the membership he is more likely to take your considerations seriously.

GregHead is not receiving any private messages so I have sent a complaint via the Contact Us link and I'd encourage others to do so as well.

It is completely hypocritical as a Christian, to be promoting cheating on your partner.
    For example,

"Married Like to Flirt No-strings fun and flirting for all Australian naughties. Join now! www.Flirt.com"

It seems like the owner has sacrificed his values for money.
I can't come to a Christian web site to be confronted with un-christian messages.
    It's just not right.
Unless the inappropriate ads go, I won't be back.

I want to say that the ads do not represent the content of this site nor its membership, nor the owner. I have talked a few times with GregHead about this. I agree that he is in my opinion no making a good enough effort in this matter, but he certainly does not support these ads you're talking about.

The bottom line is that a website such as this needs an inflow of funds to survive. This has to come from somewhere. Perhaps we can do this better.
Remember, there's always the donate button, when it gets fixed.

I'll speak with Greg again on this, but in the meantime, I strongly recommend using Adblocker Plus for Firefox, thus you don't see the ads.
