I do not understand parents pushing fairytales as they are truth...
Santa was described as a good guy from days of old giving gifts to kids..
never the bunny...
my kids somehow just knew Mom was the tooth fairy...

Well, I don't think that you necessarily have to push them as the truth, to me, it's no different than telling them Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Children believe what they choose to believe. Let them just be kids and have imaginations. Of course, that's only my opinion.

Leaving cookies for santa is pushing.. telling kids if you are not good santa will not ... ...
telling kids a flat out lie the ester bunny gave you this candy is pushing...
telling kids here is a story about 3 bears is not pushing .. there is a line between imagination and lies ..

I am reminded about my friend Evelyn she was scolding one of her kids for lying.. the phone rang she told another kid " tell them i am not here" as soon as the kids were out of ear shot i asked here how could she do that?

Well, I guess the beauty of this is we can agree to disagree. The only time I really find it a lie is when children get old enough to ask whether or not Santa Claus or The Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy is real and the parents tell them yes that they are. The spirit of Santa Claus and giving is very real though and Saint Nicholas was in fact a real person. However, I do agree with you on the part about pushing the fact that if kids aren't good, then they won't receive any presents.

I also want to add this too. My parents told me all about Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, and The Tooth Fairy and I'm not emotionally scarred by it, or maybe I was at first and I just don't remember it because generally speaking it works like that. You say something stupid and it lasts to you but not the person you said it too. Anyway, I still know it's a sin to lie and I still love you and have been working on my merging a lot of my posts with existing threads. :hug

I wish that I had a little brother or sister, and I don't mean in Christ, I just want a younger sibling that looks up to me. Ah well, too bad that it's never going to happen.

Yesterday I started a "What Did You Learn In Church Today?" thread, so this one will be for all the teens out there. However, us elder folk can have fun with it too. Kids, what helps you get up out of bed in the morning and ready for school? Is it your alarm clock? Is it your mother sticking her head through the door and hollering at you? Or is it your dog waking you up? Whatever it is please make sure to answer it on the poll. Now adults, you can do the same for either work or church. Also, I am going to have my own fun with this thread as since Hogwarts is a school for learning in Harry Potter, and I love Harry Potter, I am going to post videos of clips from the series and summarize what we have learned afterwards from watching it. Now, first of all, let me just tell you what this thread isn't about. This is not a debate about whether or not Harry Potter is evil. If you want to debate that, go into the Fantasy Verses Reality thread and discuss your views on it. This thread is for fun and entertainment, so if you don't like Harry Potter, I don't really give a *beep* just ignore the Harry Potter content and stick to the school, work, and church stuff instead.

Now that that's over, let's discuss what we've learned shall we?

1. We learned that Harry Potter is who he says he is and really does have a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead.

2. We learned that Harry is completely loaded.

3. We learned that pictures in the wizarding world disappear.

4. We also learned that Chocolate Frogs aren't real frogs.

5. We learned that Ron should never listen to Fred.

6. Last but certainly not least, we learned that Ron has a bit of dirt on his nose.

I'm not really sure what waking up for school in the morning has to do with this thread, but,.. oh well. :shrug Moderators know best I guess. By the way, sorry if I sounded a bit angry, but it really ticks me off that every little thing has to become a debate on here a lot of the time.
