The premise of this sci-fi show is simple enough but it has huge consequences.
And it's similar to what many people have experienced.

An airplane loaded with passengers has a normal flight...
But when the plane lands the passengers discover that five years has passed during the two hour flight.

Coma patients and other severe injury patients learn the same thing when they wake up. A lot of time has passed while they were out.

How would you deal with something like that?
Spouses remarried, your fiance marries your best friend. Children growing up...job is gone along with the company you worked for...

If in a tech field you now find yourself five years out of date.

A total Rip Van Winkle experience.

i would network with others like me so we could work it out together - knowing that we all would probably need as much support as possible to find out how to proceed

What a nightmare, not just for me but for everyone concerned. If my spouse had remained who would he be really married to? Who would he want to be married to? So many questions would be in my head. Some people who this has happened to have no memory of their life beforehand, so I may have to begin all over again

I couldn't even fathom how to even begin dealing with such a life tragedy and how to rebuild my life again. So many scenarios that would have to be dealt with.

Teleporting 5 years into the future would be so mundane. I would prefer to teleport at least 100 years into the future so George Jetson style cars would be flying around. Maybe take a trip to moon base alpha.

People can't drive,why do people think flying cars is great when now those same people who never learned what abs does,won't check a tire .yes it's official ,the Firestone ,Goodyear tire debacle is all driver error.never was a tire problem. Flying requires pre flight ,and extreme attention to maintainance.

Law suits in car repairs has forced a lot of changes.

George Jetson cars don't need tires Jason. Problem solved. By then robots will fly the things, and do the pre flight. Air force says their next gen planes will be robot driven.

Computers never make mistakes, they don't act up on simple inputs.locked up one myself ,input normal info,machine acted haywire ,reads inputted by hand ,done it several times


Uhm no. I have friend in aviation,they still despite old auto pilot have to actually react should ennine fail, auto pilot won't work in turbulent winds, can't handle it.should landing gear fail .nevertheless you forget robots won't pay for the part,faa will ground your flying ship.

And yes being a Jetson fan ,said car has landing gear ,no possible human error on maps issued by the govt? I read maps ,I can point to the city I work for,tell them your map is inaccurate, I have seem ww2,demolished edifice still listed on a 2008 map when said edifice are gone.

Human error unless you totally support human enslaving by a machine ,will always be.can't have pilots not able to fly should it malfunction, even train engineers must be able to control the train,the tracks,and gates manually ,each conductor can lift ,move a gate or track by remote.

I don't trust machines fully to work ,cheap parts,human software input errors.

Computers never make mistakes...

Its a question of who will make fewer mistakes. People or robots. Also of cost. Robot trucks roam the roads now. Don't have to pay truckers that way. Drones roam the battlefield. Great for reconnaissance without risking pilots. They are motivated to keep working on the technology.
