Have you ever noticed that most churches and pastors complain about no growth but they don't treat it as a business. Honestly if your in ministry aren't you going about the King's "business". Shouldn't it be treated more as a business? At least as far a marketing is concerned. I personally think that churches and ministries should invest a little more money in accurate market research and advertising. Because ultimately you have to get your message in front of people for them to know about you and what you do. Thoughts???

True. Churches do this more than you might think, however a lot of the traditional denominations are a bit beyond it. A lot of them sponsor radio spots and such. Local stuff mostly. Many non denominational churches are bigger on marketing and demographic studies.

I think there should be marketing involved, but not the same way a business does it.

I dont think churches should be spending a lot of time, energy, or money on bringing in Christians for the purpose of collecting their offerings. (Getting a larger portion of the pie)

I think churches should be spending time, ernergy, and money marketing to the non-believers, christians that are not regular visitors to a church, etc. (Making the pie larger)

Depending on the size of the church, advertising could just be a cost they are not able to justify; however, that doesn't mean members of the church shouldn't be inviting people to worship services. After all, word of mouth is a much better advertising tool than any radio spot, tv ad, or billboard could ever be.

Too bad myself, and other Christians weren't reaching the Lost with the Gospel; we wouldn't need to market or advertize, because Christians would be doing it automatically.

But since their is a need and the Lost need to hear, I would agree that Marketing is a needful thing for church's to utilize.
