even in his death, his testimony reaches the lost. i am sharing this with a jewish friend. she is saddened by his loss and i am sharing c's nature in posts and what he believed in non-violence.
i may not change my views on guns but i do respect him for his contra views. i wish more would embrace his idea.

Thank you for sharing the site of his work. I did not know the man but his art is beautiful it has to speak from his heart.
Wow. I'm rather speechless. I'm sorry for your losses Rockie and l'Chante. I know how hard it is to lose someone with months to prepare for it. I can't imagine something like this.
My wife hired a girl from SA for a little while to take care of the books and she had some stories. I can only remember one and I will not repeat it here. It's tragic that such a beautiful country can harbor so much darkness.
May his death serve as a reminder to all of us of just how short life can be and that we need to live it well in the sight of both God and man, fighting for beauty and justice and bringing Christ's restorative power and peace into this broken world.

Rockie, I am so sorry to hear this. It`s a great loss indeed.
I used to have a friend from South Africa and she would tell me many stories of the violence there. According to her almost everyone experiences being a victim of crime in South Africa in one way or another. Nevertheless, she loved her homeland and eventually went back.
I imagine Cornelius loved his homeland too since the link to his art page stated that his art was an inspiration from his country and its history. Somehow, even in the midst of the violence, he could obviously see with God`s eyes the great beauty still around him. And I think even in the secular paper it captured a bit of his witness and character when it stated his Bible was at home therefore he could not have been traveling. This statement said alot about what was important to him and the way he lived his life. His Bible was a key witness in his case. Only someone who is known for reading and treasuring their Bible could have the Bible used as a clue.

This is very interesting. This was Cornelius`s last thread I believe. He wrote, he had a near death experience and quoted "After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. I knew that I was not allowed to become fearful, because fear was negative faith in the enemy."
I have a feeling he faced what ever it was he faced in the end without fear. God had already prepared him for this hour.
He then wrote
"I saw gates in front of me. Huge iron gates. I knew they were the gates of death.A voice told me to let go and enter, but I was really not in agreement with me dying right then ! I called out to the Lord for help and He came. I told Him that I do not want to die yet." He said he then saw Jesus and Jesus said "Look, this is your life. Look how fragile it is. It’s My life in you." I said " Yes Lord, its fragile" He carried on swinging it in front of me saying :" Cornelius, fragile. Fragile. Treasure My life, walk gently on the earth" I knew what He meant. He was talking about losing the self life . "
Then he writes "We have to be aware of the fragility of life. I was made aware that we can indeed loose this gift. He wanted all of me. I had to lay down my life before Him if I wanted His life to exists in me"
He concluded with "Do not trust your circumstances, trust the Word. Do not look with your natural eyes, they will only make you fear ! Look with your spiritual eyes and....choose life ! Choose the Word and you will live !"
It was a very interesting last thread. I think he was prepared to meet God.

I never met Cornelius, but we talked via pm a couple of times after he posted his testimony. It was only then that I realised that he was actually Cornelius Bosch, the painter.
It is sad that South Africa lost such a great man.

No big civil war, no headlines, no shockwaves sent around the world. Google ‘kill the Boer, kill the farmer’. It’s a song that gets sung at all political events of the reigning political party, and yet, I would much rather live in South Africa than in Zimbabwe. Those poor, poor people! What goes on there is really bad.

I have been thinking about his near death experience too and thinking it was defnitely a way for God to prepare Him for what happened. It's not unusual for people to fear death, and after speaking with C, also, he told me he was afraid to die and I am sure most of us can say that, however, after his testimony I do not think he was. God is good to prepare us for what is coming.
When the papers said they were hoping he was "seeking inspiritation" there was no way he was going to be doing that with his Bible still at home, so that was a huge clue for everyone. And to have this as your legacy! WOW! C is a great witness even beyond his leaving this earth.
I praise God that C was in my life as an example and witness, I learned more about the Word from him than from anyone else n my life, I also learned more about how to walk like Jesus from C, then from anyone else in my life.
I miss him so much.
Rockie, it`s not overly unusual for a person when they are going to be taken away in an untimely death for God to prepare them. I have heard other such cases. And it is possible that in the back of Cornelius`s mind God was preparing him for what we may consider a violent death which is why he had this sense of fear, but perhaps God was telling him when the time came, it would be alright because God was going to be there by him and he did not need to fear just as Stephen in the Bible did not need to fear as the crowd stoned him. We don`t know what his last moments were like, but I believe God was with him and perhaps his last moments were his greatest witness for God of all. I know his death was not in vain, and he obviously passed on his torch of faith to you, so carry it well. I am sure you were like his beloved little brother and he can look down from Heaven, see you, and be proud of you. You will see him again one day! It will be a glorious reunion!

May God comfort Cornelius` family and all his dear friends who cared about him. And may the murderer be brought to his knees in conviction over his sins and cry out to Jesus for forgiveness and salvation.

Rockie, you were obviously very close to Cornelius. I will keep you in my prayers and ask the good LORD to keep you close to His heart. If it is any consolation, I read today that he passed before ... they did what they did. May I please ask you to pray with me that these ridiculous acts will stop? I never understood racism. I guess I never will.

These were part of a lively discussion about physical healing, but I do think God was preparing C's heart for what he was about to face. These verses represent our greatest hope and our greatest gift in Christ, victory over death. What a very real Comfort we have in Christ.
I heard he was shot first and then torched, I also heard this was unusual for a car jacking, to also torch them, so was thinking maybe he shared the gospel with them first.
Thanks for your prayers. It's hard coming here knowing he is not here, but on the other hand people knew him here and that helps.
He was on another forum, and many people are mourning him over there, too. People are mourning Cornelius all over the world.
Bosch’s family collects his work

Family representatives and friends of late painter Cornelius Bosch are collecting his artwork from various galleries across Gauteng.
On Wednesday police confirmed that a burnt body with a bullet wound to the head found in a veld near Kameeldrift in Pretoria was that of the missing 55-year-old artist.
Mourning family and friends at the art gallery in Hartbeespoort Dam gathered to collect Bosch’s paintings.
The family’s spokesperson Lee Lerm said, “It’s a normal practice in the art industry to collect art once someone has passed on, in order to keep everything together, it’s also the family’s wish.â€
Bosch, who was best known for his expressionist art, often sat at the gallery and socialised with friends over a glass of wine.
Lerm said it was difficult breaking the news to his mother. “We gave his mom, who’s 82, the news yesterday. It’s good to have the closure, although it’s very stressful and very heart sore.â€
Bosch’s younger sister, who is a famous artist in Australia, is expected to arrive in South Africa soon.
Police say the motive for his murder is still unknown and the bakkie Bosch was travelling in is still missing.

Yes it is fairly unusual for hijackers to shoot and torch their victims. Normally it is either/ or. Without going into too much detail - setting a victim alight is a power display. They tried to make a statement. If they just wanted the car they would've shot him and took the car. The fact that they use of fire meant that he most probably shared the Gospel with them, and they had to prove to themselves that they are in control of him (even if they couldn't hurt his soul).
Wow, that is really twisted. Glad C carried his legacy all the way to the end by sharing the gospel, and nope no man can hurt his spirit. amen for that.

I don't know what to say. I hate hearing this.
I did not often agree with him theologically, but I also did not know Cornelius, and after reading this story and seeing what a talented painter he was (Which I had no idea) I am reminded that we are all real people behind these electronics messages we post. I wish I knew him better, or in some other way than just trading our opinions on God. I am further reminded that maybe we all deserve a little more respect as individuals who love God and claim his son Jesus Christ. We can all take comfort that he is with God, and may God bless his family during this time.
