This is mainly a verse list about God's mercy, with a few comments.

I for one am very thankful that God is so patient and merciful.

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whetherye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your ownselves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
1 Corinthians 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

When we are chastened it is for correction.
Because of God's great mercy, through Christ Jesus we are able to humbly go to God in repentance.

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

If we have been chastened, we know exactly where we have been in error. Repentance means, "to turn from," turning away from that sin.

Proverbs 3:3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

Proverbs 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Psalms 85:10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He does correct us and direct us and cleanse us and purge us from sin.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

This verse is addressing The Laodicans

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,Jesus Christ the righteous:

Psalms 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Hello Betty,
I read your Opening Post very carefully. It was a blessing to read
and it was very much appreciated. I took some notes on what you
wrote and jotted down some of the magnificent Bible verses you
listed --- to be later highlighted on my Kindle.

I, like you, am also very grateful that the Lord is so patient and
merciful.

Here are a few of my favorite words in the English language:

Faith
Hope
Love
Mercy
Grace
Peace
Kindness
Compassion
Forgiveness

I like you too JAG, That is a GREAT favorite word list!

Thank you for this response. You made me smile. I have to do that more often. :)

I find "hope" to be the most powerful thing.
That's the typology of the "morning star"...That the long night is ending.
That which is broken will be made whole
That which is longed for is granted
The long and tiresome battle will end
Tears of sorrow turned into laughing to tears

Hope requires faith...And faith of a mustard seed can move mountains.

Hope. Such a powerful gift. It's no accident my avatar is an anchor. :) It's great when it finally sinks into a believers heart that God is unchangable.

Hebrews 6:13-20
13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself,
14 saying, "Surely I will bless you and multiply you."
15 And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise.
16 For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation.
17 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath,
18 so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.
19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,
20 where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
