Merry Christmas. Daily christmas reminder, if someone says "you don't need to get me anything" it really means "you better get me something", and if someone says "you know me so well" it really means "what is this junk".

I'm the exception to the rule as usually. My husband is easy to buy for, but me, there is really nothing I need or want at my age. I'm not a materialistic person, just a good ole country girl with simple needs that I already have.

Merry Christmas!!!

The Day is finally here...the wrapping paper is in shreds creating a sea of refuse.

It's still early morning but I feel the need for an adult beverage. (If it weren't for the antibiotics I would)

Oh the joys of being around family!

But the gingerbread houses stood...none have crashed. The cookies and candies have been distributed as well as the gifts. (Except for my wife and I... when we get home we will)

I miss my bed and quiet time with my wife.

I'm looking forward to getting back to my routine. No more fighting siblings. No more fussing parents.
One more stop on the way home tomorrow and all is good and done. It has been a very Merry Christmas. I've corrupted people away from schlock and towards doing things together with their children... and enjoyed every minute of it. People figure it out when I explain the difference between happy memories and unhappy debt from paying for the schlock. Home made gifts (well made) are the best.

Then after New year's it can begin again. The slow build to Christmas once again.

I did do a little teaching others of how to bake... even a nice little lady from Austria who is accustomed to fine foods and was overjoyed at getting her hands on real truffles and cookies. (Austrian patisseries are traditionally the finest in the world (not the British) and she misses home)

*Sigh*

What about a new pair of socks. Lol. The classic gift. Don't tell me you been wearing the same ones for years. Everyone can do with a new pair of socks.

The only time I wear socks is in the winter time if I am going somewhere which is not often. Summer time no socks at all. Around the house and outside, never. So I have had the same socks in my draw for years.

I got slipper socks in my stocking this morning and I'm wearing them right now. :)

I second your statement on Austrian pastry.
French is good too, but the Austrian is more varied and much finer and the best quality.

Let me see if I could find that street that's chock full of patissseries....

Here we go....the one I used to go to,,,Kartnerstrasse, the street of Kartner, no vehicles allowed ---- : )

That's a new word for me. So a, patissier makes patisseries? Would that be right?

I'm guessing it's French pastries? They look good. Yum.
Hi Ed,
You're right. Well, the image is supposed to be Viennese pastries,,,but who cares? Just get me some!

The word is like the Italian ---
a Patissier ...... is a baker
patisserie ........pastry shop

Merry Christmas!
