Anyone know of any good monastaries to visit?
I'm thinking of a vacation.
NO.
Not where Reba said.

There's a nice monastery in North Western Canada.
I'll get the name for you.
Beautiful scenery.
Nice lakes.
Quiet and peaceful.
Anybody's dream vacation.

Fra' Lorenzo is the one with the beard.
Ooops.
Sorry.

He's all the way in tha back.

The next to last, Fra' Claudio, with the glasses used to be a professional rock guitartist till God told him it was not a good thing.
He has cancer but is doing OK.

Nice group of guys.
But Sasha and Sushi go where ever I go...

I have no idea if your serious, but I visited one once. Very interesting! I'm not sure that I understand it at all from a biblical perspective but it would be easier to not get distracted from following Jesus.

It's a real monastery.
I go up there once a month for theological lessons that are very edifying, thought provoking, and useful. They are biblically based. We're a group of about 15.
Everything he teaches is right on. When talk of Mary comes up, I shut my ears partly because I do respect and love her.

These monasteries are all over Italy. I know of two others right here in my area.
The one I go to is for prayer. The friars there (or whatever they are - I should find out)
pray 8 hours a day. They keep the grounds beautifully. They do confession for priests. They have Masses. They counsel persons who wish to be helped.

BTW, I'm not catholic anymore. But every Christian that believes in Jesus for their salvation is my brother in Christ -- even those with whom I don't agree on every single doctrine.

They pray a lot.
Some are called to pray. This is their ministry, and also to help others.

P.S. The next to last one, Fra' Claudio, used to be a rock guitarist till he was called to get "out of the world". I think he's on youtube, but he doesn't like to talk about those days anymore...

I heard they make good wine, and lots of it...
