Wow. Roofs are on fire from flying rocks, so I think it's a good idea to go there?!?
Sure but not necessarily near or too close to the Volcano or it's fissures. As the Map I posted earlier shows the actual area that is affected where lava is flowing is quite small in comparison to the entire Island of Hawaii. This is not a Mt. St. Helens or Krakatoa event. Those are different types of Volcanoes, far more dangerous than Hawaii's, "Shield" Volcanoes. An article from today>--->>> Kilauea Volcano Eruption: Is It Safe To Travel To Hawaii?

My point is the roof was on fire solely because "flying rocks" not only got there, but were burning as they did so. It would therefore be prudent to conclude the self same roof is prone to the hazard of flying rocks - or so it would seem to me.

I can't imagine finding myself in such a situation ...

The Government is starting to get tough now. Martial Law. Either leave or you will be arrested! Unfortunately with some people that is what it takes. Some are so stupid they will refuse to evacuate when advised or told to. Then when the lava overuns their property and they call 911 at the last second expecting the Government to come bail them out. That just isn't gonna fly, it places rescuers in danger then. Residents face arrest as lava threatens Hawaii homes

A man who went through wars in the Balkans said that most of his neighbors turned into monsters when food got scarce.

Yup, and that's the biggest danger with the extended blackout that would accompany a major EMP, from any source. So many people rely on our social safety net! If that ever got cut off, while basic government services were out of commission? Our cities will quickly become uninhabitable, and that will spread to the neighboring suburbs. So we need to be able to stand our ground against the gangbangers.

That's good, it's about time.

You know I'm a vocal critic of our government, but they're handling evacuation concerns correctly. Those being evacuated now still have an escape route that's not really threatened, but they're down to one. The other escape route they had has just been cut off by lava.

Making people leave their homes now is erring on the side of caution, and may well prove to have been unnecessary by the time this is over. Letting those directly affected stay could prove to be disastrous so it's not worth the risk, but that's only true of a very small area.

In my 20's and early 30's I dealt with gangbangers in a bad area, including many on the South side of Chicago. They were animals then when getting a welfare check and selling crack. I would hate to see what they would turn into in the even of societal collapse!

Exactly. Tell me again why capacity for ammo should be limited to ... any number at all?
