I was just wondering, why is Mulan considered a Disney princess? Ariel was a princess by birth and by marriage, Cinderella by marriage, Snow White by birth and marriage, Pocahontas birth, but neither of Mulan's parents were royal, she doesn't get married until the second movie, and Shang isn't even a prince. By the way, does anybody know whether or not Mulan was a real person because I think she is a part of a legend in China or something. Anyway, this is another one of my favorite Disney movies. :) I love Mushu, he's my favorite because he absolutely cracks me up! Eddie Murphy (who's also hysterical) does a fabulous job with him! :hysterical

It is really just a generic term used for main female characters in the Disney animated movies.

If that's the case then why aren't Nala and Kiara considered Disney princesses? They really are/were ones even though they're lions.
How do you know they are not?

It may be possible they are not considered "Princesses" because they are not human, or a type of human in Ariel's case.

True, but I never actually heard of Nala and Kiara being classified as Disney princesses before but I guess you have a point with the human thing. By the way, after Ariel married Prince Eric she was actually human don't forget.

Ha,
I think the simple answer is this. It's a child story and children dont ask those types of questions so Disney can get away with saying things that really are not true.

It's not only Disney. Most Hollywood movies are like that. They are not designed to be accurate or true. They are designed to entertain.
Hate to tell ya this, but it's all fake lol!

Gotta love how in Veggie Tales they can hold objects with their invisi-hands. Not to mention Larry doesn't have hair, but Jr. Asparagus makes sure Larry understands this issue. Haha

Sorry for the late response but *gasp* You mean to tell me that Mushu isn't a real dragon!? :eek2Then please explain this for me,.. :hysterical

I may not be a Disney fanatic, but I like many of their movies. Also love me a good time at the Magic Kingdom =)

Me too, it sure is magical at the Magic Kingdom. :) I've been to Walt Disneyworld quite a few times myself, never been to Disneyland before though. Which Magic Kingdom are you speaking of though? Or is there only the one at Disneyworld? Space Mountain's the best! :biggrin

Veggie Tales is really cute but first I had absolutely no idea how it had to do with the topic at hand until I realized that Larry is a cucumber with a hairbrush that doesn't have any hair. ROTFL!!! :hysterical

Anyways, nobody ever did answer my other question, was Mulan based on a real person or not? Oh and by the way, hey Mushu, what do you say about Jeff thinking that you don't exist?

I remember reading that there was a real Mulan, I think. I would need to Google it to know for sure.
Her actual story is a bit different than what's in the movie. She dresses up in armor and fights her father, defeats him. Then reveals who she is and asks to go to war in his place. He allowed it since she was able to beat him.
That's all I remember with much certainty

That's why I'm asking, I tried googling it but I didn't know what to click on for the right answer.

Thanks, but that still doesn't tell me whether or not she was a real person. I already found that page by the way. Wikipedia can never be trusted a hundred percent anyways.
